| sr |
dc.description.abstract | Decay of root neck and lower part of tomato plant is a disease, which frequently occurs in glass-houses and in open fields in Serbia. It is caused by the fungus parasite Phytophthoras sp. This Phytophthora sp. by its morphological characteristics and physiological properties is close to the Phytophthora parasitica, but its identity has not yet been determined with any certainty. Species from the genus Lycopersicon (L. esculentum, L. hirsutum and L. peruzlianum) are very sensitive to the parasite. In tested assortment of the 74 tomato varieties and hybrides, none of these were resistant to the parasite. Besides the tomato the fungus attacks carnations (Dianthus barbatus), tobacco (A- icotiana labacum), petunia (Petunia sp.) and violets (Viola tricolor). Young tomato plants are especially sensitive to the parasite ; this occurs from emergence to the stage of flower budding. The fungus rapidly develops on the green and ripe tomato fruits, too. A dose of 800 gim3 zineb S-65 and radotiram P fungicides inactivated the fungus in the infected substratum consisting of a mixture of earth and fermented farmyard manure. The same effect has been achieved on a substratum of gravel with 5 p. 100 sulphuric acid 650 B in the amount of io 1:m2. | sr |
