Variation of germination of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) seed during storage life

AB  - Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) seed is dormant, which means that the maximum germination is achieved after some time. The research was performed on one genotype (Domaci srednje dugi - DSD). The seed, studied for germination rate, originates from year 2007 and the germination variation was studied for period 2007 - 2011. Eggplant seed was dormant after yield in 2007, but the germination increased over the years. The trial was conducted at the standard germination test method, defined in the Regulation on quality of agricultural seeds, 1987. The lowest germination rate (41%) was in year of production (2007) of the II yield, while the maximum germination was found for the seed produced in the III yield, after two years of preserving. Although the seed after the period of dormancy had satisfactory - higher germination rate, trend of germination decrease was also present which is a normal due to seed aging. The conclusion is that the time of yield significantly determinate the dormancy of the eggplant seed and the time required for maximum germination and delayed aging of seed.
AB  - Seme nekih sorti plavog patlidžana (Solanum melongena L.) je dormantno što znači da je potreban vremenski period kako bi se uspostavila maksimalna klijavost kod ove povrtarske vrste. Ispitivanje je sprovedeno na jednom genotipu (Domaći srednje dugi). Praćeno je starenje semena sorte Domaći srednje dugi, dobijeno iz semenske proizvodnje 2007. godine, u periodu od 2007-2011. godine. Seme dobijeno iz dva roka berbe ispoljilo je dormantnost u godini vršaja, a sa starošću semena klijavost se povećavala. Ogled je sproveden po standardnoj metodi ispitivanja klijavosti koja je propisana Pravilnikom o kvalitetu semena poljoprivrednog bilja iz 1987. godine. Najmanja utvrđena klijavost semena (41%) bila je u godini proizvodnje (2007) druge berbe dok je maksimalna klijavost semena utvrđena kod semena treće berbe nakon dve godine čuvanja (83%). Iako je seme posle perioda dormantnosti ispoljilo 'zadovoljavajuću' (veću) klijavost, prisutan je trend opadanja klijavosti što predstavlja normalnu pojavu kod semena koje stari. Zaključeno je da rokovi berbe utiču ne samo na početnu dormantnost semena ispitivane sorte plavog patlidžana već i na vreme potrebno za postizanje maksimalne klijavosti i kasnije starenje semena.

AB  - U ovom radu ispitivali smo broj semena salate (Lactuca sativa L.) po biljci u dva roka setve Pretpostavka je da su osobine, ukupan broj cvetova i broj cvetova po cvetnoj glavici visoko korelisane između sebe, a one predstavljaju komponente prinosa semena. Drugim rokom setve, izazvano je "preskakanje" faze glavičenja. "Preskakanje" faze glavičenja je posledica uticaja dugog dana, kada biljke iz faze 4-6 stalna lista prelaze u fazu icvetavanja. Ovo ispitivanje ima cilj da ispita smanjenje broja semena u zavisnosti od zasnivanja semenskog useva salate. Komparativno je ispitano l O sorti salate (Nansen, Majska kraljica, Safir, Univerzal, Ravel, Atraction, Superble, Type-5140, Ljubljanska ledenka i Brauner) za ukupan broj cvetova i broj cvetova po cvetnoj glavici, u dva roka setve. Izveden je dvofaktorijelni ogled, po potpuno slučajnom blok sistemu u četiri ponavljanja. Korelacija između ove dve osobine su srednje jačine (r = 0,706) bez utvrđene značajnosti. Regresioni koeficijenti ukazuju na postojanje međuzavisnosti ovih osobina. Analiza varijanse ukazuje na signifikantnu varijansu genotipa, dok drugi faktor, rok i interakcija (genotip x rok) nemaju signifikantne vrednosti. Koeficijent fenotipske varijacije je veći od koeficijenta genetičke varijacije kod obe osobine.
AB  - This paper is a result of researching the number of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) seed per plant in two sawing periods. The presumption was that the traits: total number of flowers and total number of flowers per head, are highly correlated and that they represent the components of seed yield. In the second sawing period the skipping of the heading phase was provoked. Skipping of the heading phase is the effect of the long day, when plants transfer to flowering phase from phase of 4-6 permanent leaves. This research aimed to investigate the decrease of the seed number depending on sowing time lettuce seed crop. Ten lettuce varieties (Nansen, Majska kraljica, Safir, Univerzal, Ravel, Atraction, Superble, Type-5140, Ljubljanska ledenka and Brauner) for total flower number and the number of flowers per flower head in two sawing periods were compared. Two-factorial trial in random block system with four replications was performed. The correlation of the two researched traits was medium (r = 0,706) without significance. Regression coefficient showed the correlation of these traits. Variance analysis showed that variance of genotype was not significant: the other factor, sowing time and interaction (genotype x sowing time) were not significant. The coefficient of phenotype variance was higher than the genetic variance coefficient for both traits.

AB  - Laboratorijskim ispitivanjem klijavosti obuhvaćeno je seme pasulja i boranije u sledećim varijantama: seme pasulja dobrog izgleda, seme pasulja lošeg izgleda, seme pasulja i boranija sa jasno vidljivim tragovima oštećenja pasuljevim žižkom i seme visoke linije boranije. Ogled, je postavljen kao dvofaktorijalni-blok sistem, u kojem je drugi faktor, pored genotipa, bilo tretiranje semena zamrzavanjem. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju daje seme pasulja loše frakcije bilo najslabije klijavosti, ali da je ona prisutna. Iako je seme dobrog izgleda pažljivo odabrano, klijavost je nešto ispod standarda zakonom dozvoljene klijavosti. Seme sa izraženim prisustvom pasuljevog žižka, je u laboratorijskim ustavima zadržalo klijavost u značajnom stepenu. Između pasulja i boranija nema razlika u pogledu klijavosti. U poređenju semena ne tretiranog i tretiranog zamrzavanjem ne postoje razlike između pasulja i boranija.
AB  - The aim of this study was to investigate germination of good bean seed of the variety Galeb and the bad bean seed of the same variety. We were also interested in germination of bean and snap bean seed damaged by grain weevil, and in germination of the seed treated by freezing which was aimed at controlling grain weevil by cold. We also recorded the differences between bean and snap bean seed, which was or was not treated by freezing in laboratory conditions. This investigation was carried out by applying the two factorial block system. The obtained results were evaluated by the variance analysis and x2 test These results suggest that the bean seed of a bad fraction had low levels of germination, but still it was present. Although the seed of good appearance was carefully selected, germination was slightly lower than it should have been. The seed with the large amount of grain weevils performed a high level germination in laboratory conditions. There were no differences in germination between the seed injured by grain weevil either in beans or in snap beans. As for the seed treated or untreated by freezing, there also were no differences between beans and snap beans.
