Ovaj hibrid karakteriše ženski tip pola i visok potencijal rodnosti. Namenjen je za gajenje

Determination of bioactive components in different tomato lines: Physicochemical properties and antioxidant activity

AB  - Tomato, one of the most produced vegetables in the world, is experiencing continuous global increase in both production and consumption. Fruit quality traits are important for fresh market tomatoes as well as for the processing industry. Despite the growing demand for both fresh and processed tomatoes, consumers are not satisfied with the quality of available fruits. The main objectives of the present work were to determine the physicochemical characteristics [pH, total soluble solids (TSS), total titratable acids (TTA), TSS/TTA ratio, DMC, lycopene, β-carotene, vitamin C, and total phenolic content], as well as the antioxidant activity of 13 different tomato lines, and to identify the most promising ones in terms of fruit taste and quality. Antioxidant activity was determined using the ABTS and DPPH methods with Trolox used as the standard compound. PCA analysis was conducted to identify group patterns. The results of PCA analysis indicated a specific genotypic response in all investigated physicochemical traits. Genotypes 2, 10, and 13 were identified as the best for fresh consumption, as they exhibited the highest levels of compounds crucial for good taste, nutrition, and human health benefits. The most promising genotype related to fruit quality attributes was genotype 10 with the best TSS and TAA content and TSS/TAA ratio, which is important for overall taste perception. On the other hand, genotype 9 showed promise for industrial purposes due to its ideal pH value in the juice and good soluble solid content. High antioxidant activity was characteristic of genotypes 1 and 2, and their consumption as fresh tomatoes can be beneficial to human health. They also should be considered for further evaluation as potentially interesting genotypes for abiotic stress research and selection programs which can lead to the development of both superior fruit quality and stress tolerant genotypes.

Induction of direct somatic embryogenesis and genetic stability of somatic embryo-derived plants of broccoli

AB  - The influence of the developmental stage of zygotic embryos and the composition and pH of the Gamborg
induction medium B5 on the initiation and development of somatic embryos was investigated. The optimal medium
was B5 medium with a pH value of 5.0 and without plant growth regulator, at which the highest frequency of somatic
embryogenesis (56.67%) and the highest average number of somatic embryos per explant (3.35) were achieved. Somatic
embryos appeared directly on the hypocotyls of the explants, without the callus stage. On zygotic embryos in the early
cotyledonary phase, three times higher regeneration was achieved compared to larger embryos in the cotyledonary
phase. The induction of somatic embryogenesis did not occur during the growth of explants on the medium containinig
2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, nor on zygotic embryos in the late cotyledonary phase. Random amplified polymorphic
DNA analysis showed the genetic stability of somatic embryo-derived plants, which makes this newly established protocol
suitable for the regeneration and propagation of desirable broccoli genotypes.

AB  - U Srbiji i širem regionu, tokom druge polovine 20. veka, programi oplemenjivanja
i selekcije pasulja uglavnom su se obavljali s ciljem selekcije genotipova
zadovoljavajućeg prinosa i kvaliteta sa determinantnim porastom i jednovremenim
sazrevanjem mahuna pogodnih za mehanizovano gajenje i berbu, dok je selekcija
novih genotipova indeterminantnog porasta bila samo od sekundarnog značaja.
Kao rezultat ovih oplemenjivačkih programa u institutima Srbije (Institut za
povrtarstvo Smederevska Palanka, Institut za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo Novi Sad,
Institut za poljeprivredu i tehnološka istraživanja Zaječar), u poslednje dve decenije
20. veka registrovan je veći broj novih domaćih sorti. U novije vreme širom
sveta, selekcioneri su fokusirani na rešavanje glavnih nedostataka rasprostranjenih
tradicionalnih i klasičnih sorti, kao što su ispodprosečni prinosi, osetljivost na
najznačajnije prouzrokovače bolesti i štetočine, osetljivost na stress prouzrokovan
toplotom i nedostatkom vode (posebno vazdušna suša). Kako bi se pronašla
odgovarajuća rešenja za navedene izazove u Institutu za povrtarstvo Smederevska
Palanka, postavljen je preliminarni poljski ogled sa ciljem ocenjivanja novopribavljenih
linija, populacija i spontanih hibrida. Praćene su: visina biljke, visina prve
mahune, broj mahuna po biljci, broj semena po biljci i masa 1000 semena, kao i
izračunate osobine i upoređena sa registrovanim sortama Galeb i Biser. U toku
vegetacione sezone pasulja u 2023. godini, od 23 ocenjivana uzorka, 4 (X2, X17, X22
i X23), četiri su iskazala zadovoljavajuće vrednosti ispitivanih osobina. Odabrane
linije su planirane za buduća istraživanja i evaluacije, skrining na tolerantnost na
bakterijske bolesti i ukrštanje sa ciljem dobijanja novih, poboljšanih sorti pasulja.
AB  - In Serbia and the broader region, during the second half of the 20th century,
common bean breeding and selection programs were mostly performed in order
to select genotypes of satisfactory yield and quality with determinant growth and
simultaneous ripening of pods suitable for mechanized cultivation and harvesting,
while the selection of new genotypes of indeterminate growth was only of
secondary importance. As a result of these breeding programs in Serbian institutes
(Smederevska Palanka, Novi Sad, and Zaječar), a greater number of new domestic
varieties were registered in the last two decades of the 20th century. In recent times
worldwide, breeders have focused on addressing the main issues of widespread
traditional and classic varieties, such as below-average yields, susceptibility to plant
diseases and pests, intolerance to heat, and water stress. In order to mitigate such
demands at the Institute for Vegetable Crops Smederevska Palanka, a preliminary
field trial was set up with the aim of evaluating newly provided landraces, populations,
and spontaneous hybrids. Plant height, height of the first pod, number of pods
per plant, number of seeds per plant, and mass of 1000 seeds, as well as calculated
traits, were measured and compared with registered varieties Galeb and Biser. In
the growing season 2023, among the 23 accessions evaluated, 4 (X2, X17, X22, and
X23) expressed satisfactory values of examined traits. Selected lines are planned
for future research and evaluation, screening for tolerance to bacterial diseases,
and crossing with the aim of obtaining new, improved varieties of common beans.

AB  - Usmeravajući selekciju kupusa prema potrebama tržišta u kvalitetu u prinosu
i otpornosti u Institutu za povrtarstvo S. Palanka selekcionisano je 7 linija iz populacije
Izpscc u kojoj je detektovan visok sadržaj šećera i to u rasponu od 6,1 do
9,6%, a prosek je 3,8 - 4,2%. Selekcija linija započeta je metodom individualnog
odabiranja iz populacije, a nastavljena je Pedigre metodom. Osnovni kriterijumi
pri selekciji bili su; erektofilna rozeta, listovi sa dugačkom lisnom drškom koja
olakšava fototropizme, dva ovojna lista zelene boje, unutrašnji kočan kraći od 50%
visine glavice i sadržaj ukupnih šećera viši od 7,5 %, dobro zbijena glavica kao i
masa glavice preko 1,6 kg. Ogled sa 7 selekcionisanih linija: G1, G2, G3, G4, G5,
G6 i G7 postavljen je u 3 ponavljanja na oglednom polju Instituta za povrtartsvo
tokom 2020, 2021. i 2022. Pored osobina: glavice, rozete i uniformnosti, praćena
je stabilnost sadržaja ukupnžnih šećera (%). AMMI analiza (glavni aditivni efekti
i višestruka interakcija) za osobinu ukupnog sadržaja šećera pokazala je najveću
stabilnost linije G3, dok su G2 i G5 bile sledeće u rangiranju po stabilnosti, u svim
ispitivanim sezonama. Sadržaj šećera kod G3 u 2020. iznosio je prosečno 8,5%, u
2021 8,9%, dok je sadržaj šećera u 2022. godini bio najniži i prosečno je iznosio
7,7%. Najveći sadržaj šećera izmeren je kod linije G5 u 2021 i iznosio je 9,6%.
Odabrane linije G3, G2 i G5, visokog genetičkog potencijala za sadržaj šečera iskorišćene
su kao očinske linije u procesu selekcije visokoprinosnih, otpornih i slatkih
srednje kasnih i kasnih hibrida kupusa koji se očekuju na tržištu od 2027. godine.
AB  - Directing the selection of cabbage according to the needs of the market in terms
of quality, yield and resistance, 7 lines from the Izpscc population were selected in
the S. Palanka Institute of Vegetables, in which high sugar content was detected,
ranging from 6.1 to 9.6%, and the average is 3.8 - 4.2%. The selection of lines was
started with the method of individual selection from the population, and continued
with the Pedigree method. The basic selection criteria were; erectophilic rosette,
leaves with a long petiole that facilitates phototropism, two sheathing leaves of green
color, inner stem shorter than 50% of the height of the head and content of total
sugars higher than 7.5%, well-compacted head as well as head weight over 1.6 kg.
An experiment with 7 selected lines: G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G6 and G7 was set up in
3 replications on the experimental field of the Institute of Vegetables during 2020,
2021 and 2022. In addition to the characteristics: heads, rosettes and uniformity,
stability was monitored content of total sugars (%). AMMI analysis (additive main
effects and multiplicative interaction) for the trait of total sugar content showed
the highest stability of the G3 line, while G2 and G5 were ranked next in terms
of stability, in all investigated seasons. The sugar content of G3 in 2020 averaged
8.5%, in 2021 8.9%, while the sugar content in 2022 was the lowest and averaged
7.7%. The highest sugar content was measured for the G5 line in 2021 and was
9.6%. Selected lines G3, G2 and G5, with high genetic potential for sugar content,
were used as paternal lines in the selection process of high-yielding, resistant and
sweet mid-late and late cabbage hybrids expected on the market from 2027.

AB  - Institut za povrtarstvo Smederevska Palanka je naučnoistraživačka
ustanova sa tradicijom dužom od sedam i po decenija. Za to vreme, od
praznih močvarnih parcela Institut je prerastao u zaokruženu instituciju,
koja obuhvata više od 150 ha obradivih površina, istraživačko razvojne,
laboratorijske, proizvodne, magacinsko-distributivne i komercijalnoprodajne
kapacitete. Zahvaljujući višedecenijskom radu i zalaganju
tehničkog i stručnog osoblja kao i oko 100 inženjera, magistara i doktora
nauka, u proteklom periodu registrovano je više od 170 sorti i hibrida
različitih vrsta povrća, objavljeno je više od 1300 referenci, odbranjeno
25 magistarskih radova i 26 doktorskih disertacija. Uprkos nepovoljnim
okolnostima koje su zadesile Srbiju u prethodnom periodu, Institut je
uspeo da se održi na domaćem i međunarodnom tržištu i sve vreme svog
postojanja predano radi na unapređenju povrtarstva kroz širenje
iskustava, uvođenje inovacija i implementaciju stečenih rezultata
istraživanja u proizvodnju povrća, dajući svoj skroman doprinos primeni
nauke u poljoprivredi.
AB  - The Institute of Vegetable Crops Smederevska Palanka is a scientific
research institution with a tradition of more than seven and a half
decades. During that time, the Institute has grown from empty swamp
plots into a well-rounded institution that includes more than 150 ha of
arable land, research and development facilities, laboratories, production,
warehouse-distribution and commercial facilities. Thanks to decades of
hard work and efforts of technical and professional staff as well as about
100 engineers, masters and doctors of science, in the past period more
than 170 varieties and hybrids of different types of vegetables were
registered, more than 1300 references were published, 25 master's theses
and 26 doctoral dissertations were defended. Despite the unfavorable
circumstances that occur in Serbia in the previous period, the Institute
managed to maintain its position on the domestic and international market
and throughout its existence has dedicatedly worked on the improvement
of vegetable production through the dissemination of experiences, the
introduction of innovations and the implementation of the obtained
research results in the production of vegetables, giving its modest
contribution to the application of science in agriculture.

AB  - U ovom radu su ispitivana dva metoda analize stabilnosti kod 23
genotipa dinje gajenih tokom osam vegetacionih sezona na lokalitetu
Smederevska Palanka (ogledno polje Instituta za povrtarstvo). Analiza je
vršena AMMI metodom i BLUP metodom, koje se zasnivaju na analizi
interacije genotip x spoljna sredina (G×E). Najvažniji cilj rada je bio da
se odrede genotipovi dinje koji se karakterišu stabilnošću bez obzira na
uslove spoljašnje sredine. Ogledi su sprovođeni u periodu od 2014. do
2021. godine. Ispitivana osobina je bila masa ploda. Utvrđeno je da se
genotipovi, čija je prosečna masa ploda ispod ukupnog proseka,
karakterišu manje varijabilnim vrednostima mase ploda u odnosu na
genotipove koji su prinosniji. Kao najstabilniji genotipovi, bez obzira na
vodni režim u toku cvetanja i zametanja plodova izdvojili su se G3 i G16
(AMMI analiza) i G7, G14 i G20 (BLUP analiza).
AB  - In this paper, in 23 melon genotypes grown during eight growing
seasons at the Smederevska Palanka location (the open field of the
Institute of Vegetables), two methods of stability analysis were examined.
The analysis was performed using the AMMI method, and BLUP
method, which are based on genotype x environment (G×E) interaction
analysis. The most important goal of this paper was to determine the
melon genotypes that are characterized by stability regardless of the
conditions of the environment. The trials were conducted in the period
from 2014 to 2021. The examined trait was fruit weight. It was
determined that genotypes whose average fruit weight is below the
overall average are characterized by less variable fruit weight values
compared to genotypes that are more productive. G3 and G16 (AMMI
analysis), and G7, G14, and G20 (BLUP analysis) stood out as the most
stable genotypes regardless of the water regime during the flowering and
fruit set.

(AMMI analiza) i G7, G14 i G20 (BLUP analiza)., In this paper, in 23 melon genotypes grown during eight growing
seasons at the Smederevska Palanka location (the open field of the
Institute of Vegetables), two methods of stability analysis were examined.
The analysis was performed using the AMMI method, and BLUP
method, which are based on genotype x environment (G×E) interaction
analysis. The most important goal of this paper was to determine the
melon genotypes that are characterized by stability regardless of the
conditions of the environment. The trials were conducted in the period
from 2014 to 2021. The examined trait was fruit weight. It was
determined that genotypes whose average fruit weight is below the
overall average are characterized by less variable fruit weight values
compared to genotypes that are more productive. G3 and G16 (AMMI
analysis), and G7, G14, and G20 (BLUP analysis) stood out as the most
stable genotypes regardless of the water regime during the flowering and
fruit set.",

AB  - The expression of genes that induce the transformation of meristems into the reproductive stage in oilseed rape is realized in
conditions of low positive temperatures for a certain period of time. Such a flowering process is called the vernalization pathway.
A four-factor field trial with 6 genotypes of head cabbage was set up at the Institute of Vegetable Crops in Smederevska Palanka,
of which three parental genotypes were divergent by geographical origin: Scc, B and N, and three more F1 hybrids were selected
by diallel crossing: Scc x B, Scc x N and B x N. In order to achieve a different vegetative stage, seedlings were sown at three sowing
dates: August 15th, September 1st and September 15th. Transplanting was done on October 20th. The results of sowing head
cabbage within the sowing period for oilseed rape were the induction of the flower mechanism, the absence of the head formation
phenophase, and the realization of a stable seed yield. The experiment was performed in vivo in the control version and in the
treatment with gibberellic acid – GA3. The influence of all four factors: season, genotype, sowing date and GA3 treatment showed
statistical significance for the yield components as well as for the yield itself and seed quality. The three seasons in which the
experiment was evaluated differed in temperature during overwintering: 2010/2011 was moderately cold, 2011/2012 was
extremely cold, while 2012/2013 was warm. In the cold season, the seed yield was low, and reduced to the biological
maintenance of the species, while the highest seed yield was achieved in the third – warm (2012/2013) season in the first sowing
period. The experiment also confirmed the existence of an identical flower mechanism in the species Brassica napus L. and
Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.
AB  - Експресија гена који индукују трансформацију меристема у репродуктивни стадијум код уљане репице остварује се у
условима ниских позитивних температура у извесном трајању. Такав процес цветања назива се вернализациони пут. У
Институту за повртарство из Смедеревске Паланке постављен је четворофакторски пољски оглед са 6 генотипова купуса
главичара, од којих су три родитељска генотипа дивергентна по географском пореклу: Scc, B и N, а од њих је диалелним
укрштањем селекционисано још три F1 хибрида: Scc x B, Scc x N, и B x N. У циљу постизања различитог вегетативног
стадијума расада, сетва је вршена у три рока сетве: 15. август, 1. септембар и 15. септембар. Расађивање је вршено 20.
октобра. Резултат сетве купуса главичара у року сетве за уљану репицу била је индукција цветног механизма, изостанак
фенофазе формирања главице и реализација стабилног приноса семена. Оглед је постављен in vivo у контролној верзији
и у третману гиберелинском киселином – GA3. Утицај сва четири фактора: сезоне, генотипа, рока сетве и третмана GA3
показао је статистичку значајност на особине компоненте приноса, као и сам принос и квалитет семена. Три сезоне у
којима је оглед евалуиран биле су температурно различите у периоду презимљавања: 2010/2011 је била умерено
хладна, 2011/2012 је била изразито хладна, док је 2012/2013 била топла. У температурно хладној сезони принос семена
био је низак, сведен на биолошко одржавање врсте, док је највећи принос семена остварен у трећој – топлој (2012/2013)
сезони истраживања у првом року сетве. Оглед је потврдио и постојање идентичног цветног механизма код врста
Brassica napus L. и Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.

AB  - U radu je analizirana stabilnost osobine visina biljke 20 divergentnih
genotipova plavog patlidžana koji su deo kolekcije Instituta za povrtarstvo
Smederevska Palanka. Poljski mikroogledi su izvedeni na tri lokaliteta (Smederevska Palanka, Kusadak i Vranovo). Analiza varijanse AMMI
modela pokazala je da postoje značajne razlike između genotipova,
lokaliteta, kao i njihovih interakcija (G×E) za visinu biljke. Od ukupne
sume kvadrata, 91,6% variranja odnosio se na efekat genotipa dok se svega
4,11% variranja može pripisati efektu lokaliteta. Rezultati dobijeni u ovom istraživanju ukazuju da je 5 proučavanih genotipova pokazalo stabilnost
ove osobine na različitim lokalitetima. Na osnovu ASV vrednosti za visinu
biljke, zaključuje se da je najveća stabilnost utvrđena na lokalitetu Vranovo koji je po rangu na prvom mestu i sa koeficijentom AMMI stabilnosti 2,16.
AB  - In the experiment the stability of the trait plant height, for 20 divergent
eggplant genotypes from the GenBank of Institute for Vegetable crops Smederevska Palanka was analyzed. Field microtrials were carried out at three locations (Smederevska Palanka, Kusadak and Vranovo). The
analysis of variance of the AMMI model showed significant differences between genotypes, localities and their interactions (G×E) for plant height.
From the total sum of squares, 91.6% of the variation was related to the
genotype effect, while only 4.11% of the variation can be attributed to the
locality effect. The results obtained in this research indicate that 5 studied
genotypes showed the stability of this trait in different localities. Based on
the ASV value for plant height, it is concluded that the highest stability was
determined at the Vranovo location with an AMMI stability coefficient of
2.16.

Procena genetičkog diverziteta germplazme plavog patlidžana korišćenjem RAPD markera

AB  - Evaluacija genetičkih resursa plavog patlidžana (Solanum melongena L.) sa
različitih geografskih područja primenom molekularnih markera (RAPD) je od
velikog značaja u procesu oplemenjivanja. Ukupno 90 polimorfnih amplifikovanih
proizvoda dobijeno je od 10 dekamernih RAPD prajmera, korišćenih za analizu
genetičkog diverziteta 20 genotipova plavog patlidžana (16 lokalnih i 4 genotipova
stranog porekla). Najviši polimorfizam je konstatovan prilikom korišćenja OPAF-
16 prajmera (70,83%). Broj detektovanih amplifikovanih fragmenata je bio od 13
(OPF-04) do 24 (OPAF-16), dok je prosečan broj fragmenata po prajmeru iznosio
17,2. Dužine amplifikovanih fragmenata su bile u rasponu od 400 do 9000 bp.
Vrednost Jaccard-ovog koeficijenta genetičke distance bila je od 0,095 do 0,35, a
dendrogram konstruisan metodom UPGMA pokazao da se 16 lokalnih i 4 stranih
genotipova grupisalo se u devet grupa (klastera). Populacije K1, K8/1, K19, K22,
K25 i K38 predstavljaju genotipove koji su se odvojile od ostalih i formirali su
pojedinačne klastere. Najniža vrednost izračunate genetičke distance iznosila je
0,095 između domaćih genotipova K13 i K12, koji su i sa morfološke strane pokazali
sličnost u pogledu oblika i boje. S druge strane, najveća vrednost genetičke
distance izračunata je između stranih genotipova K19 i K25(0,35), K19 i K34 (0,34)
i K19 i K38 (0,34). Genetski različiti genotipovi identifikovani korišćenjem RAPD
markera mogu biti potencijalni početni genetički materijal za ukrštanje sa drugim
genotipovima radi dobijanja novih i poboljšanih sorti patlidžana.
AB  - Evaluation of genetic resources of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) from
different geographical areas using molecular markers (RAPD) is of great importance
in the breeding process. A total of 90 polymorphic amplified products
were obtained from 10 decameric RAPD primers, used to analyze the genetic
diversity of 20 genotypes of eggplant (16 local and 4 genotypes of foreign origin).
The highest polymorphism was determined using the OPAF-16 primer (70.83%).
The number of detected bands ranged from 13 (OPF-04) to 24 (OPAF-16), while
the average number of bands per primer was 17.2. The lengths of the amplified
fragments ranged from 400 to 9000 bp. The value of the Jaccard’s genetic distance
coefficient ranged from 0.095 to 0.35, and the dendrogram constructed using the
UPGMA method showed that 16 local and 4 foreign genotypes were grouped into
nine groups (clusters). Populations K1, K8/1, K19, K22, K25 and K38 represent
genotypes that separated from the others and formed single clusters. The lowest
value of the calculated genetic distance was 0.095 between domestic genotypes
K13 and K12, which also showed morphological similarity in terms of shape and
color. On the other hand, the highest value of genetic distance was calculated
between foreign genotypes K19 and K25 (0.35), K19 and K34 (0.34) and K19 and
K38 (0.34). Genetically distinct genotypes identified using RAPD markers could
be potential starting genetic material for crossing with other genotypes to obtain
new and improved eggplant varieties.

genetičkog diverziteta 20 genotipova plavog patlidžana (16 lokalnih i 4 genotipova
stranog porekla). Najviši polimorfizam je konstatovan prilikom korišćenja OPAF-
16 prajmera (70,83%). Broj detektovanih amplifikovanih fragmenata je bio od 13
(OPF-04) do 24 (OPAF-16), dok je prosečan broj fragmenata po prajmeru iznosio
17,2. Dužine amplifikovanih fragmenata su bile u rasponu od 400 do 9000 bp.
Vrednost Jaccard-ovog koeficijenta genetičke distance bila je od 0,095 do 0,35, a
dendrogram konstruisan metodom UPGMA pokazao da se 16 lokalnih i 4 stranih
genotipova grupisalo se u devet grupa (klastera). Populacije K1, K8/1, K19, K22,
K25 i K38 predstavljaju genotipove koji su se odvojile od ostalih i formirali su
pojedinačne klastere. Najniža vrednost izračunate genetičke distance iznosila je
0,095 između domaćih genotipova K13 i K12, koji su i sa morfološke strane pokazali
sličnost u pogledu oblika i boje. S druge strane, najveća vrednost genetičke
distance izračunata je između stranih genotipova K19 i K25(0,35), K19 i K34 (0,34)
i K19 i K38 (0,34). Genetski različiti genotipovi identifikovani korišćenjem RAPD
markera mogu biti potencijalni početni genetički materijal za ukrštanje sa drugim
genotipovima radi dobijanja novih i poboljšanih sorti patlidžana., Evaluation of genetic resources of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) from
different geographical areas using molecular markers (RAPD) is of great importance
in the breeding process. A total of 90 polymorphic amplified products
were obtained from 10 decameric RAPD primers, used to analyze the genetic
diversity of 20 genotypes of eggplant (16 local and 4 genotypes of foreign origin).
The highest polymorphism was determined using the OPAF-16 primer (70.83%).
The number of detected bands ranged from 13 (OPF-04) to 24 (OPAF-16), while
the average number of bands per primer was 17.2. The lengths of the amplified
fragments ranged from 400 to 9000 bp. The value of the Jaccard’s genetic distance

between foreign genotypes K19 and K25 (0.35), K19 and K34 (0.34) and K19 and
K38 (0.34). Genetically distinct genotypes identified using RAPD markers could
be potential starting genetic material for crossing with other genotypes to obtain
new and improved eggplant varieties.",

GA3) na klijavost semena kupusa kod tri roditeljska genotipa i tri njihova
hibrida, selekcionisanih u dialelnom ukrštanju, ispitivana je u sezonama
koje su bile: jedna ekstremno hladna, jedna veoma topla i jedna prosečna.
Seme kupusa proizvodeno je tako što je iskorišćena mogućnost
vernalizacije, tj. pojava cvetnog mehanizma tipičnog za uljanu repicu.
Ogled je postavljen u rokovima setve pogodnim za proizvodnju uljane
repice, a jedan od ciljeva bio je da se izbegne forimiranje glavice iz
razloga njene neotpornosti na niske temperature. Analizom varijanse
potvrđena je statistička značajnost uticaja svih ispitivanih faktora na
klijavost semena. Hibridi su pokazali izvesne vrednosti apsolutnog i
relativnog heterozisa na osobinu klijavosti u odnosu na roditeljske
genotipove. Analiza varijanse AMMI modela ukazala je na značajne
razlike između genotipova i spoljne sredine: tretmana, rokova setve i
godina kao i njihovih interakcija (genotip x spoljna sredina) na klijavost
semena. U ukupnoj sumi kvadrata, 53,5% se odnosilo na efekat spoljne
sredine, što je 6,14 puta više nego vrednost sume kvadrata genotipova.
AB  - The influence of genotype and environment (season, sowing date, GA3
hormone treatment) on the germination of cabbage seeds in three parents
and three F1 hybrids selected in a diallel cross was examined in seasons
that were: one extremely cold, one very warm and one average. Cabbage
seeds produced by utilizing the possibility of vernalization, i.e. the
appearance of a flower mechanism typical of oilseed rape. The
experiment was set up in the sowing dates typical for the production of
oilseed rape, and one of the goals was to avoid the formation of the head
due to its lack of resistance to low temperatures. Analysis of variance
confirmed the statistical significance of the influence of all factors on
seed germination. The hybrids showed certain values of absolute and
relative heterosis for the germination trait in relation to the parental
genotypes. Analysis of the variance of the AMMI model shows
significant differences between genotypes and external environment:
treatments, sowing dates and years, as well as their interactions (genotype
x external environment) on seed germination. 53.5% of the sum of
squares was related to the effect of the external environment, which is
6.14 times more than the value of the sum of squares of the genotypes.

AB  - One of the goals in eggplant breeding (Solanum melongena L.) is higher yield. The research included 20 different genotypes that are part of the collection of the Institute for Vegetable Crops Smederevska Palanka. 16 genotypes originated from Serbia, 2 from the Netherlands, 1 from Italy and 1 from Israel. The experiment was conducted at locations Vranovo (44°36’6,35”N, 20°59’55.47”E, altitude 87 m) using a randomized complete block design in three replications. Yield parameters (earliness, plant height/cm, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight/g, fruit length and width/cm, fruit yield per genotype/kg) were examined to study the traits relations and to effects on eggplant yield. Number of fruits per plant had positive and significant correlation with yield (r=0.685**). Also results showed positive correlation between each of: plant height to fruit length (r=0.812**), plant height to fruit weight (r=0.147), fruit width to fruit weight (r=0.523*). This characteristics had direct or indirect positive effect on yield so it can be taken as selection criteria to increase final yield of eggplant. Because there is genetic variability between tested genotypes, progress in breeding will depends on this variation. Earliness had negative correlation with yield (r=-0.044) and with all others parameters.

AB  - Velika divergentost genotipova u okviru gajene vrste Capsicum
annuum L. omogućava neiscrpni proces selekcije u kreiranju novih
hibrida, sorti i linija. U Srbiji postoji mnogo sorti paprike stvorenih za
različite namene, ali mali broj je stvoren procesom selekcije. Cilј našeg
rada je bio da se prikažu ekonomski najznačajnije morfološke osobine
nekih perspektivnih linija Instituta za povrtarstvo u Smederevskoj
Palanci. Od posmatranih 5 genotipova izdvojio se genotip LPK-10/1 kod
kojeg su utvrđene najveće, statistički značajno različite, vrednosti u
odnosu na ostala 4 genotipa. Takođe, genotip LPK-05 se izdvojio visokim
vrednostima za masu ploda, debljinu perikarpa i sadržaj suve materije.
Ispitivani genotipovi su uklјučeni u dalji proces selekcije u cilјu stvaranja
novih sorti i linija paprike pedigre metodom selekcije.
AB  - The great divergence of genotypes within the cultivated species Capsicum annuum L. enables an inexhaustible process of selection in the creation of new hybrids, varieties, and lines. In Serbia, there are many pepper varieties created for different uses, but a small number have been created through a process of selection. The goal of our work was to show the most economically significant morphological traits of some perspective lines of the Institute for vegetable crops in Smederevska Palanka. Of the observed 5 genotypes, the genotype LPK-10/1 was singled out, with the highest, statistically significantly different values compared to the other 4 genotypes. Also, genotype LPK-05 was singled out with high values for fruit mass, pericarp thickness, and dry matter content. The tested genotypes were included in the further selection process in order to create new varieties and pepper lines by the pedigree selection method.

AB  - Pasulj i boranija pripadaju istoj botaničkoj vrsti (Phaseolus vulgaris
L.). Pasulj se gaji zbog fiziološki zrelog semena a boranija zbog mahuna,
koje su u tehnološkoj zrelosti još nedozreli plodovi. S druge strane, nema
razlike u tehnologiji gajenja semenskih useva pasulja i boranija. U radu je
proučavan uticaj sorte na broj mahuna po biljci i prinos semena po
jedinici površine šest sorti pasulja i boranija. Proučavane sorte bile su
Galeb, Palanački zlatnožuti (PZŽ), Biser, Šumadinka, Darina i Palanačka
rana. Najveći prosečan broj mahuna po biljci (8,7) i najveći prinos semena po jedinici površine (1190,83 kg ha-1) zabeležen je kod sorte
Biser. Najmanji prosečan broj mahuna po biljci (0,74) i najniži prinos
(150,73 kg ha-1) zabeležen je kod sorte PZŽ. Među sortama koje se u
ishrani koriste kao boranija, po broju mahuna i prinosu po jedinici
površine izdvaja se sorta Palanačka rana sa 7,03 mahuna po biljci i
1005,5 kg ha-1.
AB  - Botanicaly the same species (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), common bean
and green bena have different use. Common bean varieties are used as a
mature seeds and green bean varieties as an unmature pods. When it
comes to seed production technology, there is not any differences
between common bean and green bean seed production. In this work, the
effects of different Phaseolus vulgaris L. varieties on number of pods per
plant and seed yield per hectare were examined. Examined varieties were:
Galeb, Palanački zlatnožuti (PZŽ), Biser, Šumadinka, Darina and
Palanačka rana. The highest average number of pods per plant, 8.7 and
the highest seed yield 1190.83 kg/ha, was recorded for Biser variety. The
lowest average number of pods per plant (0.74) and the lowest yield of
150.73 kg/ha was recorded for PZŽ variety. Among the green bean
varieties the highest number of pods (7.03) and yield (1005.5 kg/ha) were
performed with variety Palanačka rana.

AB  - Krastavac (Cucumis sativus L.) je među najstarijim gajenim
povrtarskim vrstama u zemljama širom sveta. Cilj ovog rada je praćenje
parametra kvaliteta semena u trogodišnjem periodu, ali i uticaja prisustva
fitopatogenih gljiva na ukupnu klijavost. Odabrane su tri sorte krastavca:
Dugi zeleni, Pariski kornišon i Sprinter čiji kvalitet je analiziran u toku
skladištenja, u periodu 2018-2020. godine. Najbolji kvalitet semena
utvrđen je kod sorte Sprinter gde je klijavost >95%, kod kojeg je izostalo
prisustvo fitopatogene gljive Fusarium spp. Najveći procenat Fusarium
spp. detektovan je kod Dugog zelenog, gde je ukupna klijavost bila
smanjena, s obzirom da negativno utiče na ovaj parametar kvaliteta.
Buduća istraživanja će biti fokusirana na primenu biopreparata, kao
potencijalne zaštite semena u toku skladištenja.
AB  - Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is among the oldest cultivated
vegetable species in countries around the world. The aim of this work is
to monitor quality parameters over a three-year period, as well as the
effects of phytopathogenic fungi on overall germination. Three varieties of cucumber were chosen for the study: Dugi zeleni, Pariski kornišon and
Sprinter, whose quality was analyzed during storage, in the period 2018-2020. The best quality was obtained with the Sprinter variety rate of
germination > 95%, where the presence of the phytopathogenic fungus Fusarium spp. was absent, since it negatively affects this quality
parameter. The highest percentage of Fusarium spp. was detected in
Duga Bela, where overall germination was reduced. Future research will be focused on the application of biopreparations, as a potential seed protection during storage.

skladištenja, u periodu 2018-2020. godine. Najbolji kvalitet semena
utvrđen je kod sorte Sprinter gde je klijavost >95%, kod kojeg je izostalo
prisustvo fitopatogene gljive Fusarium spp. Najveći procenat Fusarium
spp. detektovan je kod Dugog zelenog, gde je ukupna klijavost bila
smanjena, s obzirom da negativno utiče na ovaj parametar kvaliteta.
Buduća istraživanja će biti fokusirana na primenu biopreparata, kao
potencijalne zaštite semena u toku skladištenja., Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is among the oldest cultivated
vegetable species in countries around the world. The aim of this work is
to monitor quality parameters over a three-year period, as well as the
effects of phytopathogenic fungi on overall germination. Three varieties of cucumber were chosen for the study: Dugi zeleni, Pariski kornišon and
Sprinter, whose quality was analyzed during storage, in the period 2018-2020. The best quality was obtained with the Sprinter variety rate of
germination > 95%, where the presence of the phytopathogenic fungus Fusarium spp. was absent, since it negatively affects this quality
parameter. The highest percentage of Fusarium spp. was detected in
Duga Bela, where overall germination was reduced. Future research will be focused on the application of biopreparations, as a potential seed protection during storage.",

Tokom dve godine, vršena je evaluacija osam osobina – tri morfološke
osobine biljke (habitus, prisutnost ureza i srebrnih mrlja na liskama), dve
morfološke osobine ploda (boja, oblik) kao i tri agronomske osobine
(dužina, širina, masa ploda) kod 10 genotipova tikvice. Četiri od 10
genotipova su se izdvojili odnosom dužine i širine ploda u opsegu između
3,5 i 4,5. Genotip G6 poreklom iz Francuske je imao najveću prosečnu
dužinu i širinu ploda. Genotip G9, poreklom iz Kine je imao plodove
najveće mase. Optimalna masa ploda od 0,35 do 0,40 kg je zabeležena
kod genotipova 2, 5 i 8. Prema klaster analizi najsličniji genotipovi su 1,
2, 4, 5 i 7. Evaluacija genetičkih resursa je značajan deo predselekcionog
programa svake vrste. Dobijeni rezultati su od izuzetnog značaja za
budući rad na oplemenjivanju ove vrste u našoj zemlji.

program of the Institute for Vegetable Crops in Smederevska Palanka. During two years, eight traits were evaluated - three
morphological traits of the plant (habitus, the presence of incisions, and
silver spots on the leaves), two morphological traits of the fruit (color,
shape) as well as three agronomic fruit traits (length, width, weight) in 10
squash genotypes. Four genotypes were distinguished by the ratio of fruit
length to width in the range between 3.5 and 4.5. Genotype G6
originating from France had the highest average fruit length and width.
Genotype G9, originating from China, had the heaviest fruits. The
optimal fruit weight of 0.35 to 0.40 kg was recorded in genotypes 2, 5,
and 8. According to cluster analysis, the most similar genotypes are 1, 2,
4, 5, and 7. Evaluation of genetic resources is an important part of the
pre-breeding program of each species. The obtained results are extremely
important in the further work on the breeding of this species in our
country.

AB  - LED izvori svetlosti sve više zamenjuju standardne fluorescentne FL
lampe i dobijaju važnu ulogu u uzgoju biljaka pod veštačkim
osvetljenjem. Proučavali smo uticaj izvora svetlosti različite boje: bele,
žute, plave i crvene na razvoj biljaka paprike, dinje i paradajza. Semena
odabranih vrsta su posejana u kontejnere ispunjene supstratom i praćeno
je njihovo klijanje i dalji rast klijanaca. Biljke su rasle u komori za rast
pri temperaturi od 23ºC i pod svetlosnim režimom dugog dana 16h/8h.
Posle 4 nedelja gajenja u fitokomori mereni su parametri rasta (visina i
masa stabla, dužina i masa korena, broj listova) kao i sadržaj pigmenata –
hlorofila i karotenoida. Najvitalnije su bile biljke koje su rasle pod belim i
žutim svetlom kod sve tri biljne vrste. Nešto manji rast je izmeren pod
plavim svetlom, dok su se pod crvenim svetlom biljke izduživale i bile
izuzetno tanke. Takođe, ove biljke su imale najmanje razvijen korenov
sistem. Najrazvijeniji korenov sistem su imale biljke pod žutim svetlom
kod paprike i paradajza, odnosno pod belim svetlom kod dinje. Najveći
sadržaj pigmenata bio je pod tretmanom žutog svetla kod paprike, odnosno belog svetla kod dinje i paradajza.
AB  - LED light sources are increasingly replacing standard fluorescent FL
lamps and gaining an important role in growing plants under artificial
lighting. We studied the influence of light sources of different colors:
white, yellow, blue and red on the development of pepper, melon and
tomato plants. The seeds of the selected varieties were sown in containers
filled with sterile substrate and their germination and further seedling
growth was monitored. The plants were grown in a growth chamber at a
temperature of 23ºC and under a light regime of long day 16h/8h. After 4
weeks of cultivation in the phytochamber, the growth parameters (height
and mass of the tree, length and mass of the roots, number of leaves) as
well as the content of pigments - chlorophyll and carotenoids were
measured. Plants growing under white and yellow light were the most
vital in all three cultures. Slightly less growth was measured under blue
light, while under red light the plants elongated and were extremely thin.
Also, these plants had the least developed root system. The most
developed root system had plants under yellow light for peppers and
tomatoes, or under white light for melons. The highest content of
pigments was under the treatment of yellow light for peppers, or white
light for melons and tomatoes.

AB  - Egyptian Walking Onion (Allium x proliferum) is a perennial species, member of the Alliaceae family. In Serbia and broader region, it is grown only locally on small areas along the edges of the gardens, vineyards and orchards, because it does not form large and compact bulbs that have market value. On the other hand, the key advantage of Walking Egyptian Onion is greater tolerance to low temperatures and frost, i.e. early ripening of young onions. This allows producers to appear on the market earlier and consumers to have a quality product from the second half of winter until early spring. A multi-year study was conducted with the aim to determine the possibility of growing the Egyptian Walking Onion and its production and nutritional characteristics in the Šumadija and Braničevo Regions. On the four experimental locations (Žabari, Smederevska Palanka, Velika Plana and Jagodina) 15 samples from sole crops and intercrops with wines (Vitis vinifera L.) were collected for further investigation. The average values of plant height, number of leaves per plant, plant mass and antioxidative activity were measured, and ranged from 45.5 to 67.2 cm, 5.0 to 5.67, 57.75 to 77.5 g and 0.033 to 0.705 mg/g of fresh matter, respectively, depending of which part of plant was analyzed (green leaves or etiolated parts of leaves bassis). Although, thanks to this preliminary research, significant data have been collected, it is necessary to continue further research, because it was not entirely possible to report clear conclusions.

AB  - Ramson or bear garlic (Allium ursinum L.) is a perennial species that is most often collected in its natural habitat. There is a possible threat of endangering it due to the increased demands on market, interests of the pharmaceutical industry, as well as devastation of natural habitat. This trial is conducted with aim to examine some traits of cultivated and collected samples of Ramson and in order to investigate the perspective of its assisted propagation and spreading. After finding several locations where Ramson is already present (in the area of the villages of Vodice and Stojačak near Smederevska Palanka and in the area of the villages of Gornji and Donji Račnik, near Jagodina) a procedure was taken to establish micro plantations on the four selected locations (green spaces, cultivated and uncultivated agricultural areas). During the late April, the samples of 10 leaves of Ramson for each of three replication were taken on the six different locations (five naturally inhabited and one with successfully propagated Ramson). Average mass of fresh leaves and leaf area were measured. Also, the antioxidative activity was performed (DPPH test). Depending on location the average leaf mass varied from 1.44 to 1.95 g, average leaf area ranged from 43.413 to 71.363 cm2 and average antioxidative activity ranged from 0.077 to 0.291 mg/g of fresh weight. According to collected results, sustainable and successful propagation was achieved in only one location.

AB  - LED light sources are increasingly replacing standard fluorescent lamps FL, and have acquired
an important role in plants growing under artificial lighting. We studied the effect of light sources
with different color temperature, cold white (CW - 6500K) and warm white (WW - 4000K) LEDs
and FL, on development of pepper and melon plants. Pepper and melon seeds were sown in containers
filled with sterile substrate and their development from germination was monitored. Plant
were incubated in a growth chamber at 24 ºC under a 16h/8h photoperiod. The light intensity of
49 PPFD was provided in all light treatments. Control plants were grown under natural lighting
(16h/8h) photoperiod in a greenhouse at 20±4 ºC. After 8 weeks of growing in growth chamber
and greenhouse the growth parameters (plant height, number of leaves, root length, plant and
root mass), as well as the chlorophyll content, were determined. While plant height and mass
of pepper were higher under FL lights, LED light provided better growth of melon. Also lower
content of chlorophyll that was detected under FL light was more pronounced in melon than in
pepper. It has been observed that CW lamps, both LED and FL are more suitable for both cultivars
than WW lamps, because they supported the development of plantlets with better fitness, abundant
roots and green mass accumulation. Growth in the chamber under controlled conditions
was significantly higher than in the greenhouse.

AB  - Sweet pepper (Capsicum annum L.) is considered one of the most popular vegetables in the
world. During five consecutive years (2017-2021) the most important indicators of seed
quality (seed germination, energy, seed purity and moisture) and health safety were analyzed
in three varieties of peppers (Capsicum annuum L.): Palanačko čudo, Župska rana and Duga
bela. During the research, very high values of all important parameters of seed quality were
determined. The average determined seed purity was 98.6 % with a variation over the years
of examination from 99.10% to 99.9%. Seed germination varied in the range of 73% to 94%,
while the average germination was 86%. Germination energy was in the range of 61% to
88%. Seed moisture data showed that it was in the tolerance range of 6.3% to 7.4% per test
year, with an average value of 6.9%. Alternaria spp and Fusarium spp were detected in
minimal percent or no detection on variety of Palanačko čudo. Duga bela had the highest
percentage of Alternaria spp. in 2020 and 2021, which were 2% and 3%, respectively.
Fusarium spp. was presented in percentage more than in Župska rana and Palanačko čudo.
The total germination of the Palanačko čudo, Župska rana and Duga bela during the observed
five-year period was above the legal level of minimum and can be classified as quality seed.

AB  - The need for consumption of vegetable fruits obtained from organic production has increased
significantly in the last ten years. Melons (melons and watermelons) play a significant role in
human nutrition. Compared to conventional melon production, the biggest problem in organic
production is lower yield. This can be overcome by creating melon and watermelon varieties that
are more suitable for growing in the organic production system. In this two-year field
experiment, 5 melon, and 5 watermelon genotypes were used. The trial was conducted in an open
field in the Smederevska Palanka. The effect of the application of four different commercial
organic fertilizers on five characteristics of melons was observed. Mineral fertilizer was included
in the trial as a control. The aim of the study was to determine the best melon and watermelon
genotypes for the organic system of production. The greatest positive effects of the application of
organic fertilizers were determined in the watermelon genotype Fairfax. Compared to the
control, the fruit weight was increased by 15%, the sugar content up to 5%, while the thickness
of the rind was decreased by 11%. In melon has been observed a smaller effect of the application
of organic fertilizers, especially for the observed traits: weight of fruit and total sugar content.
For Passport (melon genotype) was recorded 22% higher weight of fruits harvested from plants
treated with organic fertilizers than in the control. The results showed that the Charentais,
Passport (melon), Fairfax, and Greybelle (watermelon) are the genotypes that could be
recommended for organic production systems.

AB  - Velika divergentost genotipova u okviru gajene vrste Capsicum annuum L. omogućava neiscrpni proces selekcije u kreiranju novih hibrida, sorti i linija. U Srbiji postoji mnogo sorti paprike stvorenih za različite namene, ali mali broj je stvoren procesom selekcije. Cilј našeg rada je bio da se prikažu ekonomski najznačajnije morfološke osobine nekih perspektivnih linija Instituta za povrtarstvo u Smederevskoj Palanci. Od posmatranih 5 genotipova izdvojio se genotip LPK-10/1 kod kojeg su utvrđene najveće, statistički značajno različite, vrednosti u odnosu na ostala 4 genotipa. Takođe, genotip LPK-05 se izdvojio visokim vrednostima za masu ploda, debljinu perikarpa i sadržaj suve materije. Ispitivani genotipovi su uklјučeni u dalji proces selekcije u cilјu stvaranja novih sorti i linija paprike pedigre metodom selekcije.
AB  - The great divergence of genotypes within the cultivated species Capsicum annuum L. enables an inexhaustible process of selection in the creation of new hybrids, varieties, and lines. In Serbia, there are many pepper varieties created for different uses, but a small number have been created through a process of selection. The goal of our work was to show the most economically significant morphological traits of some perspective lines of the Institute for vegetable crops in Smederevska Palanka. Of the observed 5 genotypes, the genotype LPK-10/1 was singled out, with the highest, statistically significantly different values compared to the other 4 genotypes. Also, genotype LPK-05 was singled out with high values for fruit mass, pericarp thickness, and dry matter content. The tested genotypes were included in the further selection process in order to create new varieties and pepper lines by the pedigree selection method.

Cilј našeg rada je bio da se prikažu ekonomski najznačajnije morfološke osobine nekih perspektivnih linija Instituta za povrtarstvo u Smederevskoj Palanci. Od posmatranih 5 genotipova izdvojio se genotip LPK-10/1 kod kojeg su utvrđene najveće, statistički značajno različite, vrednosti u odnosu na ostala 4 genotipa. Takođe, genotip LPK-05 se izdvojio visokim vrednostima za masu ploda, debljinu perikarpa i sadržaj suve materije. Ispitivani genotipovi su uklјučeni u dalji proces selekcije u cilјu stvaranja novih sorti i linija paprike pedigre metodom selekcije., The great divergence of genotypes within the cultivated species Capsicum annuum L. enables an inexhaustible process of selection in the creation of new hybrids, varieties, and lines. In Serbia, there are many pepper varieties created for different uses, but a small number have been created through a process of selection. The goal of our work was to show the most economically significant morphological traits of some perspective lines of the Institute for vegetable crops in Smederevska Palanka. Of the observed 5 genotypes, the genotype LPK-10/1 was singled out, with the highest, statistically significantly different values compared to the other 4 genotypes. Also, genotype LPK-05 was singled out with high values for fruit mass, pericarp thickness, and dry matter content. The tested genotypes were included in the further selection process in order to create new varieties and pepper lines by the pedigree selection method.",
