The Inheritance of Plant Height in Winter Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

AB  - Four winter wheat varieties (Srbijanka, Partizanka, KG-56 and PKB-111) have been selected for diallel crossing in other to study the mode of inheritance, gene effect and genetic variance components for the plant height in F2 generation. Sixty plants of parents and F2 generation were used for analysis. The mode of inheritance was done on the basis of the significance of components of genetic variance and the regression analysis. The inheritance of plant height in the most crossing combinations was superdominance. The combining ability analysis was found to be highly significant, which means both additive and non-additive type of gene actions. The best general combining ability manifested KG-56 variety, and the best specific combining ability have shown hybrids KG-56 x PKB-111, Srbijanka x PKB-111 and Partizanka x KG-56. The genetic variance components, average degree of dominance and regression line indicated superdominance in the inheritance of plant height. The dominant alleles frequency was higher than recessive alleles frequency, which confirmed the ratio of dominant/recessive alleles.
AB  - U radu je ispitivan način nasleđivanja, efekat gena, kombinacione spo-sobnosti i komponente genetičke varijanse za visinu stabljike kod četiri sorte ozime pšenice (Srbijanka, Partizanka, KG-56 i PKB-111). Ukrštanje sorti je urađeno po metodi dialela, a ispitivanja nasleđivanja izvršena su na biljkama F2 generacije na uzorku od 60 biljaka. U nasleđivanju visine stabljike preovladavala je superdomi-nacija i parcijalna dominacija. Utvrđene su visoko signifikantne razlike za opšte i posebne kombinacione sposobnosti, što znači da u nasleđivanju ovog svojstva značajnu ulogu imaju aditivna i neaditivna komponenta genetičke varijanse. Naj-bolje opšte kombinacione sposobnosti za visinu stabljike ispoljila je sorta KG-56, a najbolje posebne kombinacione sposobnosti pokazali su hibridi KG-56 x PKB-111, Srbijanka x PKB-111 i Partizanka x KG-56. Ustanovljeno je da glavni deo genetičke varijanse čini dominantna komponenta u nasleđivanju visine stabljike. U ekspresiji ovog svojstva preovladavali su dominantni u odnosu na recesivne gene. To potvrđuje frekvencija dominantnih alela i odnos ukupnog broja dominantnih prema recesivnim alelima. Genetička analiza je pokazala da je u nasleđivanju visine stabljike došlo do superdominacije.

AB  - Ana Morava je sorta ozime pšenice nastala iz prostog ukrštanja sorti (Morava x Una). Sortu Ana Moravu karakteriše prosečna visina stabljike od 96,1 cm, klas beo, gladak, bez osja i zrno crvene boje. Prema vremenu zrenja, ova sorta je srednje rana. Otporna je na poleganje i niske temperature. Ostvarila je značajno viši prinos zrna od standardnih sorti. Sorta Ana Morava је ispoljila potencijal rodnosti zrna preko 10,0 t/ha. Odlikuje se visokim prinosom brašna i hleba po jedinici površine. Posebno se odlikuje odličnim kvalitetom sredine hleba. Vrednosni broj sredine hleba (VBS) kod ove sorte je visok (VBS=6,4). Na osnovu pokazatelja tehnološkog kvaliteta, Ana Morava je svrstana u grupu vrlo dobrih hlebnih sorti.
AB  - Ana Morava is a medium early winter wheat cultivar developed at the Small Grains Research Centre. It was derived from the cross combination of cv. Morava and Una and selected as a line Kg-3130. During the period 1997/98-1999/00, a wheat line Kg-3031 was included and tested in variety trials of the Yugoslav Commission for the Varietal Approbation of Cultivated Plants. Based on the value of expressed traits in 2001, this Commission released the line as the cultivar Ana Morava. Dr. Desimir Knežević and Dr. Veselinka Zečević are the breeders of this cultivar that botanically belongs to Triticum aestivum ssp. vulgare var. lutescens. The cultivar is characterised by white awnless spike, red coloured grain, average plant height of approximately 96.1 cm, high resistance to low temperatures and lodging, good resistance to leaf rust, stem rust and powdery mildew and high grain yield potential of over 10.0 t ha'. During the investigated period the average grain yield (7.88 t ha-1) was higher than average yields of both checks and highly significantly higher than yield of the cultivar Partizanka. The 1000-grain weight and grain hectolitre mass amounted to 42.1 g and 88.0 kg, respectively. The cultivar expressed good bread making quality, which belongs to B, according to Farinograph and the 2I'd quality group according to the protein content and sedimentation volume.

AB  - U radu je proučavan način nasleđivanja, efekat gena, kombinacione sposobnosti i komponente genetičke varijanse za dužinu klasa, broj klasica po klasu i broj zrna po klasu kod četiri sorte ozime pšenice (Srbijanka, Partizanka, KG-56 i PKB-111), koje su ukrštene po metodu nepotpunog dialela (bez recipročnih). Analize su urađene za roditelje i F2 hibride. Sorte i F2 hibridi su pokazali značajne razlike za ispitivana svojstva. Ustanovljeno je da u nasleđivanju ispitivanih komponenti prinosa učestvuju geni sa aditivnim i neaditivnim efektima, s' tim što veći značaj imaju aditivni geni. Kod svih proučavanih osobina preovlađje parcijalna dominacija. Najbolje opšte kombinacione sposobnosti za dužinu klasa ispoljila je sorta Partizanka, a za broj klasića po klasu i broj zrna po klasu sorta Srbijanka. Najveća vrednost posebnih kombinacionih sposobnosti za dužinu klasa i broj zrna po klasu ustanovljena je kod kombinacije KG-56 x PKB-111, a za broj klasića po klasu kod kombinacije Partizanka x PKB-111.

Genetic analysis of productive tillering in wheat

AB  - The inheritance, gene effect and combining ability for produc-tive tillering in 4 divergent cultivars (Srbijanka, Partizanka, KG. 56 and PKB 111) were studied in diallel crosses (without reciprocals). Plants of the F2 generation were analysed. The results obtained showed that inheritance of productive tillering was different (partial dominance, dominance and over-dominance). Analysis of the genetic components of variance showed that dominance played a more important role in the inheritance of productive tillering than additive variance. The frequency of dominant alleles was higher than that of recessive ones. The degree of dominance was higher than one, which indicated over-dominance for all crossing combinations. Regression analysis indicated a dominant mode of inheritance (over-dominance). Parent cultivars showed the presence of genetic diversity in the arrangement of dominant and recessive genes for productive tillering. Analysis of variance for combining ability showed that non additive gene effects had a higher impact in the inheritance of productive tillering. Also, the GCA/SCA ratio was lower than one indicating a preponderance of non-additive gene action. The best general combiner was Partizanka cultivar, but the highest value of specific combining ability occurred in the Srbijanka x PKB 111 combination.
AB  - U dialelnom ukrštanju (bez recipročnog) četiri divergentne sorte pšenice (Srbijanka, Partizanka. KG-56 i PKB-111) proučavan je način nasleđivanja, efekti gena i kombinacione sposobnosti za produktivno bokorenje. Proučavanja su izvršena na biljkama F2 generacije. Na osnovu dobijenih rezultala može se zaključiti da je način nasleđivanja produktivnog bokorenja bio različit (parcijalna dominacija, dominacija i super dominacija) i zavisio je od kombinacije ukrštanja. Analiza komponenti genetičke varijanse ukazuje da su dominantni genetički efekti za nasleđivanje ovog svojstva značajniji u odnosu na aditivne. Frekvencija dominantnih alela je veća od frekvencije recesivnih. Prosečan stepen dominacije je veći od jedinice, što ukazuje da se radi o superdominaciji uzevši u obzir sve kombinacije ukrštanja. Regresiona analiza ukazuje na dominantni tip nasleđivanja (superdominacija) pri čemu su roditelji bili divergentni u pogledu rasporeda dominantnih i recesivnih alela. Analiza varijanse kombinacionih sposobnosti pokazuje veći udeo neaditivnih genetičkih efekata, pri čemu je odnos OKS/PKS manji od jedinice. Od ispitivanih sorti najbolji opšti kombinator za produktivno bokorenje je Partizanka. a najveću vrednost PKS imala je kombinacija Srbijanka x PKB-111.

Na osnovu dobijenih rezultala može se zaključiti da je način nasleđivanja produktivnog bokorenja bio različit (parcijalna dominacija, dominacija i super dominacija) i zavisio je od kombinacije ukrštanja. Analiza komponenti genetičke varijanse ukazuje da su dominantni genetički efekti za nasleđivanje ovog svojstva značajniji u odnosu na aditivne. Frekvencija dominantnih alela je veća od frekvencije recesivnih. Prosečan stepen dominacije je veći od jedinice, što ukazuje da se radi o superdominaciji uzevši u obzir sve kombinacije ukrštanja. Regresiona analiza ukazuje na dominantni tip nasleđivanja (superdominacija) pri čemu su roditelji bili divergentni u pogledu rasporeda dominantnih i recesivnih alela. Analiza varijanse kombinacionih sposobnosti pokazuje veći udeo neaditivnih genetičkih efekata, pri čemu je odnos OKS/PKS manji od jedinice. Od ispitivanih sorti najbolji opšti kombinator za produktivno bokorenje je Partizanka. a najveću vrednost PKS imala je kombinacija Srbijanka x PKB-111.",
