A 2 × 3 test-cross analysis was done in order to estimate the influence of genes on the yield of cucumbers. Two female lines of indeterminate growth (21/3 and PMS) were crossed with three monoecious lines of determinate growth (M-24/4, M-24/5 and M-24/6) used as testers. Field trial was done according to a randomized block system in two replications using six F 1 hybrids and their parents. Analysis of combining abilities was done by the Singh and Choudhary method (1976). The tested genotypes were significantly different in yield. Additive influence of genes controlled the expression of yield. The most important value of general combining ability (GCA) was noted with the PMS line. Significant values of specific combining ability (SCA) were not found in the tested hybrids.en
