Scale insects from the family Coccidae are considered as very important pests in agriculture, forestry and horticulture, so they require regular monitoring and application of control measures, which are still largely based on the use of synthetic insecticides. However, one of the potentially use-
ful ways to control these insects is to use natural enemies, among which predators play an important
role, which has initiated the study of their diversity and the role in regulating scales insects number.
During 2015-2018 year, predatory larvae were collected from field together with infested plant material, and then reared in the laboratory until the imago eclosion, individually in petri dishes or jars, in order to prevent the cannibalism. After the edosion, the imagoes have been prepared and determined. The species determination was carried out based on appropriate keys or with the assis¬tance of experts - taxonomists,
During the research, 16 species of scale insects from Coccidae fam...ily, 17 species of predators from 7 families and 5 insects orders were collected and reared.
The largest number of species (10) belongs to the order of Coleoptera: Anthribus fasciattis For¬ster and Anthribus nebulosus Forster (Anthribidae), Chilocorus bipustulatus (L.), Chili:wows renipustu¬lotus (Scriba), Coccinefia septempunctata L,, Exochomus quadripustulatus 1, Harmonia axyridis Ilippodamia variegata (Goeze), Propylea quatuerciecimpunctata (L.) and Scymnus abietis Paykull (Coccinel I idae).
Three species are from the Hemiptera order: Oxycarenus lavaterae (Fabricius) (Lygaeidae), Atrac¬rotomus mail (Meyer-Dur) and Deraeocoris ruber (L.) (Miridae).
From the order of Dermaptera, two species were reared, Anehnura bipunctata (Fabricius) and I orticula auricularia L. (Forficulidae),
One species was reared from the order of Diptera, Leucopornyia siiesiaca (Egger) (Chamaemyii¬dae), and one from order Neuroptera, Chrysoperla cameo (Stephens) (Chrysopidae).
Seven species of predators were found on scale insects from the Coccidae family for the first time in Serbia: Harmonic axyridis, Hippodamia varieguta, Propylea quatuordecimpunctata, Anechura lifpunctata, Forncula auricularia, Oxycarenus Iavaterae and Deraeocoris rube!. The spedes Anechura litpunctata and Oxycarenus /avaterae were determined for the first time as Coccidae predators, not only in Serbia, but also in the world.
The most effective predator of soft scale insects in Serbia is A. nebuiosus, reared from the colo-nies of Euieranium tiliae (L.), Parthenoiecanium comi (13DucMi), Parthenolecanium rufulurn (Cockerell), Physokerrnes hemicryphus (Dalman) and Physokermes piceae (Schrank). The highest efficacy was ibserved at Ph. piceae (53.24-58.03%), and the lowest at P. rufulum (10.65.12,78%).
