AB  - The aim of the research was to evaluate the influence of the hybrid and the medium for germination testing on indicators of pep- per seed quality. The obtained results should provide an answer as to whether the application of different growing media for testing  seed germination can lead to discrepancies between test results in quality indicators for hybrid seeds. The seed quality of three pep- per hybrids: KG 2025 F1, KG 2129 F1 and KG 2032 F1 was tested on two growing media (filter paper and substrate). Statistical  analysis of germination energy, total germination, diseased seedlings and dead seeds showed highly significant differences (r<0.01)  under the influence of the hybrid factor. The growing media factor also had a highly significant effect on all examined quality indica- tors, except for total germination. A significantly lower number of abnormal and diseased seedlings was found on the filter paper  compared to the substrate. A highly negative significant correlation (r = -0.90951, p≤0.001) was recorded only between total germi- nation and diseased seedlings. The obtained results indicate that the application of different media for testing the germination of hy- brid pepper seeds can lead to inconsistencies in the obtained values for all evaluated quality indicators.
AB  - Cilj istraživanja je bio da se izvrši ocena uticaja hibrida i podloge za ispitivanje klijavosti na pokazatelje kvaliteta semena paprike. Dobijeni rezultati treba da daju odgovor da li primena različitih podloga za ispitivanje klijavosti može dovesti do neslaganja između rezultata ispitivanja u pokazateljima kvaliteta kod hibridnog semena paprike. Ispitivani su tri različita hibrida paprika: KG 2025 F1, KG 2129 F1 i KG 2032 F1 na dve različite podloge (filter papiru i supstratu). Statistička analiza energije klijanja, ukupne klijavosti, bolesnih klijanaca i mrtvog semena pokazala je visoko značajne razlike (р<0,01) pod uticajem faktora hibrid, dok je uticaj hibrida na broj nenormalnih klijanaca izostao. Faktor supstrat značajno je uticao na nivou (р<0,01) na sve ispitivane pokazatelje kvaliteta, osim na ukupnu klijavost. Veoma značajna interakcija (р<0,01) ispitivanih faktora u pogledu svih ispitivanih pokazatelja kvaliteta semena paprike dobijena je kod međusobnog uticaja faktora hibrid × supstrat. Kod hibrida KG 2025 F1 konstatovana je prosečno vrlo značajno veća energija klijanja i ukupna klijavost, u odnosu na ostala dva hibrida. Ispitivani hibridi su značajno brže klijali sedmog dana u proseku za 26% na podlozi filter papir, u odnosu na utvrđenu energiju klijanja na podlozi supstrat. Na podlozi filter papir konstatovan je značajno manji broj nenormalnih i bolesnih klijanaca u odnosu na podlogu supstrat. Visoko negativna značajna korelacija (r = -0,90951, p≤0.001) zabeležena je samo između ukupne klijavosti i bolesnih klijanaca. Ostvareni rezultati ukazuju da primena različitih podloga za ispitivanje klijavosti hibridnog semena paprike može dovesti do nepodudarnosti dobijenih vrednosti kod svih ocenjivanih pokazatelja kvaliteta.

Changes in quality indicators of different cucumber hybrid seeds during five years of aging

AB  - The aim of the research was to evaluate the effect of year and seed hybrids on the most significant indicators of the seed quality of cucumber. Testing the quality of seeds of three different hybrids of cucumber: Centauro F1, Edona F1 and Solatio F1 was carried out during a five-year period (2018 - 2022). Analysis of germination energy, seed germination, abnormal seedlings and dead seeds cucumber showed highly significant differences (r<0.01) under the influence of individual factors of the year (Y) and hybrid seed (H), as well as their interaction (Y × H). The seed germination of the examined hybrids by year slowly decreases and is the lowest at 94% in the fifth year (2022). The strongest positive correlation was established between germination energy and seed germination (r = 0.95635, p<0.001) and between abnormal seedlings and dead seeds (r = 0.92301, p<0.001). As expected, a negative and highly significant (p < 0.001) correlation was established between germination energy and: abnormal seedlings (r = -0.94535) and dead seeds (r = -0.93255). Likewise, a strongest negative (p < 0.001) correlation was found between seed germination and: abnormal seedlings (r = - 0.97497) and dead seeds (r = -0.98545). The obtained results indicate that the germination energy and seed germination of highly hybrid conventional cucumber seeds decreases significantly after the third year of aging, but only in the case of the Edona F1 hybrid.
AB  - Cilj istraživanja je bio da se izvrši ocena uticaja godine i hibrida semena na najznačajnije pokazatelje kvaliteta semena krastavca. Dobijeni rezultati treba da daju doprinos razumevanju smanjenja vrednosti pokazatelja kvaliteta visoko hibridnog semena krastavca tokom starenja. Ispitivanje kvaliteta semena tri različita hibrida krastavca: Centauro F1, Edona F1 i Solatio F1, izvedena su tokom pet godina (2018 - 2022). Analiza energije klijanja, klijavosti, nenormalnih klijanaca i mrtvog semena krastavca pokazala je visoko značajne razlike (р<0,01) pod uticajem pojedinačnih faktora godina (A) i hibrida semena (B), kao i njihove interakcija (A × B). Prosečna klijavost semena ispitivanih hibrida po godinama sporo opada i najniža je 94% u petoj (2022) godini. Dobijene vrednosti ukupne klijavosti posle pet godina ocenjivanja su visoke, jer prelaze zakonom dozvoljeni minimum od 80% za stavljanje semena krastavca u promet. Utvrđena je jaka pozitivna korelacija između energije klijanja i klijavosti semena (r = 0,95635, p<0,001) i između broja nenormalnih klijanaca i mrtvog semena (r = 0,92301, p<0,001). Kao što se očekivalo, konstatovana je visoka negativna korelacija (p < 0.001) između energije klijanja: procenta nenormalnih klijanaca (r = -0,94535) i mrtvog semena (r = -0,93255). Takođe, jaka negativna korelacija (p < 0,001) konstatovana je između klijavosti semena: nenormalnih klijanaca (r = - 0,97497) i mrtvog semena (r = -0,98545). Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju da se energija klijanja i ukupna klijavost visoko hibridnog konvencionalnog semena krastavca značajno smanjuje tek od treće godine starenja, ali samo kod hibrida Edona F1.

Značaj primene tretmana semena na povećanje pokazatelja kvaliteta semena paprike

AB  - Cilj rada je bio da se utvrdi uticaj sorte i tretmana semena na glavne pokazatelje
kvaliteta semena tri sorte paprika (Merak, Ordesa i PWC 15001). Ogled je izveden
2022. godine u Laboratoriji za kontrolu kvaliteta semena i sadnog materijala Instituta
za zaštitu bilja i životnu sredinu u Beogradu. Kao materijal u ogledu korišćeno
je seme sorti paprika proizvedeno u 2022. godini. Tretman semena je izveden sa
1% rastvorom natrijum hipohlorida u trajanju od 10 minuta, zatim je ispirano i
osušeno. Ispitivanje klijavosti semena izvršeno je standardnom laboratorijskom
metodom na filter papiru navlaženom 0,2% vodenim rastvorom KNO3 na 4 x 100
semena. Seme je inkubirano 14 dana na temperaturi 20 - 30ºC i relativnoj vlažnosti
vazduha od 95%. Sedmog dana inkubacije ocenjena je energija klijanja, a
14 dana ukupna klijavost. Zdravstvena ispravnost semena ocenjivana je vizuelnom
metodom. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju da su pojedinačni faktori sorta i tretman
semena značajno uticali (p< 0,01) na energiju klijanja, ukupnu klijavost i procenat
bolesnog semena, dok njihov uticaj na procenat nenormalnog semena nije utvrđen.
Takođe, uticaj interakcije faktora na posmatrane pokazatelje kvaliteta semena je
izostao. Primenjeni tretman na semenu uticao je u proseku na povećanje energije
klijanja i ukupne klijavosti za po 4% kod sve tri ispitivane sorte paprika. Kod sorti
paprika utvrđeno je prisustvo samo patogena Alternaria sp., čija se zastupljenost
kretala od 6 do 9% u varijantama bez tretmana semena (kontrola). Primenom
ovog tretmana kod ispitivanih sorti procenat zaraženog semena Alternaria sp.
se značajno smanjio ispod 5%, što predstavlja zakonski maksimum za stavljanje
semena paprike u promet.
AB  - The aim of the work was to determine the influence of variety and seed treatment
on the main indicators of seed quality of three pepper varieties. The experiment
was carried out in 2022 at the Laboratory for Quality Control of Seeds and Planting
Material of the Institute for Plant Protection and the Environment in Belgrade. As
material in the experiment, seeds of pepper varieties produced in 2022 were used.
The seeds were treated with a 1% sodium hypochlorite solution for 10 minutes, then
rinsed and dried. Seed germination was tested using a standard laboratory method
on filter paper moistened with a 0.2% aqueous solution of KNO3 on 4 x 100 seeds.
The seeds were incubated for 14 days at a temperature of 20 - 30ºC and a relative
humidity of 95%. On the seventh day of incubation, the energy of germination was
evaluated, and on the 14th, the total germination, that is, the number of typical seedlings.
The healthiness of the seeds was assessed by the visual method. The obtained
results indicate that the individual factors of variety and seed treatment significantly
influenced (p< 0.01) the energy of germination, total germination and the percentage
of diseased seeds, while their influence on the percentage of abnormal seeds was
not determined. Also, the influence of the interaction of factors on the observed
indicators of seed quality was absent. The treatment applied to the seeds affected on
increase in the energy of germination and total germination by 4% in all three tested
pepper varieties. In pepper varieties, the presence of only the pathogen Alternaria
sp. was determined, whose prevalence ranged from 6 to 9% in varieties without
seed treatment (control). By applying this treatment to the investigated varieties,
the percentage of infected seeds of Alternaria sp. has significantly decreased below
5%, which is the legal maximum for placing pepper seeds on the market.

abstract = "Cilj rada je bio da se utvrdi uticaj sorte i tretmana semena na glavne pokazatelje
kvaliteta semena tri sorte paprika (Merak, Ordesa i PWC 15001). Ogled je izveden
2022. godine u Laboratoriji za kontrolu kvaliteta semena i sadnog materijala Instituta
za zaštitu bilja i životnu sredinu u Beogradu. Kao materijal u ogledu korišćeno
je seme sorti paprika proizvedeno u 2022. godini. Tretman semena je izveden sa
1% rastvorom natrijum hipohlorida u trajanju od 10 minuta, zatim je ispirano i
osušeno. Ispitivanje klijavosti semena izvršeno je standardnom laboratorijskom
metodom na filter papiru navlaženom 0,2% vodenim rastvorom KNO3 na 4 x 100
semena. Seme je inkubirano 14 dana na temperaturi 20 - 30ºC i relativnoj vlažnosti
vazduha od 95%. Sedmog dana inkubacije ocenjena je energija klijanja, a
14 dana ukupna klijavost. Zdravstvena ispravnost semena ocenjivana je vizuelnom
metodom. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju da su pojedinačni faktori sorta i tretman
semena značajno uticali (p< 0,01) na energiju klijanja, ukupnu klijavost i procenat
bolesnog semena, dok njihov uticaj na procenat nenormalnog semena nije utvrđen.
Takođe, uticaj interakcije faktora na posmatrane pokazatelje kvaliteta semena je
izostao. Primenjeni tretman na semenu uticao je u proseku na povećanje energije
klijanja i ukupne klijavosti za po 4% kod sve tri ispitivane sorte paprika. Kod sorti
paprika utvrđeno je prisustvo samo patogena Alternaria sp., čija se zastupljenost
kretala od 6 do 9% u varijantama bez tretmana semena (kontrola). Primenom
ovog tretmana kod ispitivanih sorti procenat zaraženog semena Alternaria sp.
se značajno smanjio ispod 5%, što predstavlja zakonski maksimum za stavljanje
semena paprike u promet., The aim of the work was to determine the influence of variety and seed treatment
on the main indicators of seed quality of three pepper varieties. The experiment
was carried out in 2022 at the Laboratory for Quality Control of Seeds and Planting
Material of the Institute for Plant Protection and the Environment in Belgrade. As
material in the experiment, seeds of pepper varieties produced in 2022 were used.
The seeds were treated with a 1% sodium hypochlorite solution for 10 minutes, then
rinsed and dried. Seed germination was tested using a standard laboratory method
on filter paper moistened with a 0.2% aqueous solution of KNO3 on 4 x 100 seeds.
The seeds were incubated for 14 days at a temperature of 20 - 30ºC and a relative
humidity of 95%. On the seventh day of incubation, the energy of germination was
evaluated, and on the 14th, the total germination, that is, the number of typical seedlings.
The healthiness of the seeds was assessed by the visual method. The obtained
results indicate that the individual factors of variety and seed treatment significantly
influenced (p< 0.01) the energy of germination, total germination and the percentage
of diseased seeds, while their influence on the percentage of abnormal seeds was
not determined. Also, the influence of the interaction of factors on the observed
indicators of seed quality was absent. The treatment applied to the seeds affected on
increase in the energy of germination and total germination by 4% in all three tested
pepper varieties. In pepper varieties, the presence of only the pathogen Alternaria
sp. was determined, whose prevalence ranged from 6 to 9% in varieties without
seed treatment (control). By applying this treatment to the investigated varieties,
the percentage of infected seeds of Alternaria sp. has significantly decreased below
5%, which is the legal maximum for placing pepper seeds on the market.",

AB  - Globalno zagrevanje, zagađenje životne sredine, gubitak biološke raznolikosti
biljnih vrsta su pojave koje pokreću nove trendove i debate o ljudskom društvu.
Održivi razvoj je novi koncept u svetu koji treba da zadovolji potrebe ljudskog
društva uz očuvanje i unapređenje prirodnih resursa. Indikatori održivog razvoja
su glavni alati u sprovođenju mera očuvanja prirodnih resursa. U poljoprivredi
jedan od indikatora su štete nastale primenon sintetičkih sredstava. Primena novih
tehnologija bez upotrebe hemijskih agenasa u zaštiti useva je mera koja treba da
umanji nastale ekološke gubitke. Etarska ulja su jedan od najznačajniji prirodnih
metabolita, sekundarni produkti aromatičnih biljaka koji se uspešno koriste kao
biopesticidi. Biološka aktivnost etarskih ulja u poljoprivredi ima antimikrobno i
herbicidno dejstvo. Efekti ulja zavise od pojedinačnih bioaktivnih komponenti.
U prirodi igraju važnu ulogu u zaštita biljaka kao antibakterijski, antivirusni, antifungalni,
insekticidni agensi. Kod većine korova, ulja kao tipični lipofili, prolaze
kroz ćelijski zid citoplazmatske membrane, remete strukturu njihovih različitih
slojeva polisaharida, masnih kiselina i fosfolipida i permeabiliziraju ih. Štete
od primene eteričnih ulja (EU) na biljkama ogledaju se kroz hloroze, nekroze i
inhibicije rasta. Značaj upotrebe ulja i drugih prirodnih metabolita ukazuje na
njihovu upotrebnu vrednost u održivoj poljoprivredi iako fiziološka aktivnost ulja
još uvek nije dovljno istražena.
AB  - Environmental problems such as global warming, pollution, and the decline of plant
species biodiversity are leading to new social trends and discussions. A relatively new
idea of global sustainable development aims to meet societal demands while protecting
and enhancing natural resources. The main tools used in the implementation of natural
resource protection measures are sustainable development indicators. One of these
indicators is the damage caused by the use of synthetic chemicals in agriculture. In
Serbia, agriculture is an important sector of the economy with different levels of technological
progress, from extensive to intensive. The degree of pollution and its impact
on the environment varies according to agricultural production. The challenges faced
by modern agricultural production in conditions of technological progress have led to
the intensification of production, but have also caused concern about maintaining the
natural balance of cultivated land and product quality. The application of innovative
technologies for crop protection without the use of chemical agents is a step that should
reduce the environmental damage caused. Among the most important natural metabolites
and secondary products of aromatic plants used as biopesticides are essential oils.
The biological activities of essential oils in agriculture have antimicrobial and herbicidal
effects. The various bioactive components of the oil determine its action. In nature, they
play an important role in protecting plants from bacteria, fungi, viruses and insects. In
most weeds, the oils penetrate the cytoplasmic membrane of the cell as typical lipophiles
and cause its multilayers of polysaccharides, fatty acids and phospholipids to lose
their structure and become permeable. Chlorosis, necrosis, and growth inhibition are
symptoms of damage caused by the application of essential oils to plants.
Although the physiological effects of the oil are not yet well studied, the importance
of its use and other natural metabolites indicates its value for sustainable agriculture.

AB  - Paprika (Capsicum annuum L.) kao komercijalna vrsta gaji se širom sveta.
Godišnja proizvodnja paprike dostigla je oko 3.9 miliona tona. Površine pod zasadima
paprike u Srbiji procenjene su na 10.278 ha u 2021. godini, dok je ukupna
proizvodnja iznosila 147.663 tone. U ovoj studiji vršeno je ispitivanje semena dva
genotipa paprike dobijenih sa lokacija Kula i Smederevska Palanka. Ispitivanje je
vršeno standardnim metodama za procenu klijavosti i zdravstvene ispravnosti
semena. Kvalitet semena paprike procenjen je na osnovu parametara klijanja, vlage
i zdravstvene ispravnosti semena za sezonu 2022 godine. Energija klijanja iznosila
je 75% (Strižanka) i 85% (Župska rana) za lokalitet Smederevska Palanka, dok je
za Kulu iznosila 65% (Strižanka) i 55% (Župska rana) (p<0.05). Ukupna klijavost
iznosila je 88% (Strižanka) i 90% (Župska Rana) za lokalitet u Smederevska Palanka,
dok je u Kuli iznosila 80% (Strižanka) i 70% (Župska Rana). Sadržaj vlage dostigao
je 11.5% i 11% za Strižanku i Župsku ranu, respektivno (p>0.05) sa lokaliteta u
Smederevskoj Palanci. U uzorcima dobijenih sa lokaliteta u Kuli sadržaj vlage je
iznosio 12.5% za Strižanku i 9.5% za Župsku ranu (p<0.05). Zdravstvena ispravnost
semena testirana je na Alternaria spp. i Fusarium spp. Procenat infekcije za
Strižanku i Župsku Ranu iznosio je 1% (Smederevska Palanka) (p>0.05), dok je u
Kuli iznosio 3% za Strižanku i 5% za Župsku Ranu (p<0.05). Dobijeni podaci za
parametre kvaliteta ukazuju na značajnu razliku između lokaliteta Smederevska
Palanka i Kula. Buduća istraživanja će biti vezana za analizu zemljista i ukupni
prinos po parceli na lokacijama Smederevska Palanka i Kula.

The area under pepper plants in Serbia were assessed at 10.278 ha in 2021, and
overall production at 147.663 tons. Seed testing of two genotypes of pepper from
two localities (Kula and Smederevska Palanka) was performed using standard
methods for assessing seed quality and health, based on germination parameters,
moisture and seed health obtained during 2022 season. Germination energy was
75% and 85% for Strizanka and Zupska Rana, in Smederevska Palanka, respectively.
In Kula, germination energy was statistically significantly lower and accounted
for 65% and 55% for Strizanka and Zupska Rana (p<0.05). Total germination for
Strizanka and Zupska rana was 88% and 90% in Smederevska Palanka, while at
Kula location it was 80% and 70%. The moisture content was 11.5% and 11% for
Strizanka and Zupska Rana, respectively (p>0.05) in Smederevska Palanka. The
moisture content in Kula was 12.5% and 9.5% for Strizanka and Zupska Rana,
respectively. Seed health was tested on phytopathogenic fungi Alternaria spp. and
Fusarium spp. For Strizanka and Zupska Rana amounted to 1% (Smederevska

AB  - Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) as a commercial species includes a large number of different varieties and is one of the most popular vegetables around the world. Changes in the quality of the seeds of autochthonous varieties of pepper seeds: Palanačko Čudo, Župska Rana, and Kobra were monitored in three years (2019–2021). It was noticed that the slightest difference in germination was obtained with the cultivar Palnačko Čudo (p&gt;0.05) in three years. The parish wound had the best germination in 2019 (95%) compared to Palnačko Čudo and Kobra (p&lt;0.05). The germination energy of Župska Rana is significantly higher compared to other selected varieties, 89% (p&lt;0.05). There was a significant decrease in total germination in 2020 compared to 2019 (p&lt;0.05) and amounted to 83%; accordingly, the germination energy decreased. No phytopathogenic fungi were detected in the Župska Rana sample. Total germination and energy decreased significantly compared to the previous two years (p&lt;0.05). During the analysis of quality parameters in 2021, the slightest change in quality was observed in the variety Palanačko Čudo, including germination energy and moisture. A significant decrease in the germination of Župska Rana was noticed during the period 2019–2021. The lowest percentage of phytopathogenic fungi in the three years was detected in Župska Rana.

AB  - Carrot (Daucus carota L.) is one of the most important root vegetables in the Apiaceae family
grown around the world. Production of carrots in Serbia is generated in Vojvodina with the
highest yields 27.4 t/ha, while other regions generate lower yields. Current studies on carrots
mainly focus on nutrient content and carotenoid synthesis. Seeds can be infected with
phytopathogens, which can contaminate other seeds or spread the infection to other crops. Out of
the 16% of annual crop losses due to plant diseases, at least 10% are caused by seed-borne
diseases. Changes in the quality of Nantes carrot seeds were monitored for three years (2019-
2021). Total germination was highest in the first year with 92% (2019). In 2020, there was a
significant decrise in total germination of 8%. Accordingly, germination energy was reduced
(p<0.05). A statistically significant difference in total germination was not obtained between
2020 and 2021 (p>0.05). The decrease in total germination from 2019 to 2021 was significant
(p<0.05%). It has been noticed that the infection of Alternaria spp. and Fusarium spp. was the
lowest in 2019 and increased in 2020 and 2021 (4% and 5%, p<0.05), respectively. The results
may indicate an association between the percentage of phytopathogens present and germination.
In conclusion, pathogen-free seeds are necessary to create a healthy plant population, better
germination and higher yields.

AB  - The aim of the research was to evaluate the influence of the year and the seed lots on the most important indicators of cabbage seed quality. Quality testing of nine different seed lots of Potomac F1 cabbage was performed during three years (2019, 2020 and 2021). Analyses of variance showed a significant effect (p<0.01) of the year (Y), while seed lot (L) and their interaction (Y × L) showed a significant effect (p<0.05) on all observed parameters quality (germination energy, total germination, abnormal seedlings
and dead seeds). The strongest correlation between the examined parameters was in the first year and weakened in the second and third years. In the first year as expected, significant positive correlation between germination energy and total germination was found (r = 0.84779, p<0.01). The highly and negative interdependence was achieved between total germination and dead seeds (r = -0.94363, p<0.001) and abnormal seedlings (r = -0.78019, p<0.05). Also negative interdependence was found between germination energy and dead seeds (r = -0.80000, p<0.01) and abnormal seedlings (r = -0.66144, p<0.05). The germination energy and the total germination of the cabbage seeds considered were found to decrease with the increasing seed age, in contrast to the numbers of their abnormal seedlings and dead seeds which continued to increase with seed aging. The obtained results indicate that the germination of highly hybrid conventional cabbage seeds decreases significantly during aging, as a direct consequence of a very significant increase in the number of abnormal seedlings.

Kvalitet semena Panonskog gradištanca i Panonskog tetovcatestiran je u trogodišnjem periodu (2019-2021). Ukupna klijavost kodPanonskog tetovca iznosila je 73% (2019), dok je narednih posmatranihgodina značajno opala 69% (2020) i 59% (2021). Kod Panonskoggradištanca primećena je značajno bolja klijavost. Prve posmatranegodine iznoslila je 80% (2019). Ukupna klijavost tokom 2020-2021.godine bila je u značajnom padu (75%), a između tih godina nije bilostatistički značajne razlike. Najmanji procenat fitopatogenih gljivadetektovan je kod Panonskog gradištanca koji je imao najmanji procenatfitopatogenih gljiva. Može se zaključiti da fitopatogene gljive značajnoutiču na ukupnu klijavost semena pasulja.
AB  - Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an important legume cultivated worldwide for its nutritional composition (high content of proteins, minerals and vitamins). The quality of the seeds of Panonski gradištanc and Panonski tetovac was tested in a three-year period (2019-2021). The total germination in Panonski tetovac was 73% (2019), while in the following observed years it significantly decreased to 69% (2020) and 59% (2021). Significantly better germination was observed in Panonski gradištanac. In the first observed year, it was 80% (2019). Total germination during 2020-2021 was in a significant decline (75%), and there were no statistically significant differences between those years. The lowest percentage of phytopathogenic fungi was detected in the Panonski tetovac, which had the lowest percentage of phytopathogenic fungi. It can be concluded that phytopathogenic fungi significantly affect the overall germination of bean seeds.

širom sveta zbog nutritivnog sastava (visokog sadržaja proteina, minerala
i vitamina). Kvalitet semena Panonskog gradištanca i Panonskog tetovca
testiran je u trogodišnjem periodu (2019-2021). Ukupna klijavost kod
Panonskog tetovca iznosila je 73% (2019), dok je narednih posmatranih
godina značajno opala 69% (2020) i 59% (2021). Kod Panonskog
gradištanca primećena je značajno bolja klijavost. Prve posmatrane
godine iznoslila je 80% (2019). Ukupna klijavost tokom 2020-2021.
godine bila je u značajnom padu (75%), a između tih godina nije bilo
statistički značajne razlike. Najmanji procenat fitopatogenih gljiva
detektovan je kod Panonskog gradištanca koji je imao najmanji procenat
fitopatogenih gljiva. Može se zaključiti da fitopatogene gljive značajno
utiču na ukupnu klijavost semena pasulja.
AB  - Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an important legume cultivated worldwide for its nutritional composition (high content of proteins, minerals and vitamins). The quality of the seeds of Panonski gradištanc and Panonski tetovac was tested in a three-year period (2019-2021). The total germination in Panonski tetovac was 73% (2019), while in the following observed years it significantly decreased to 69% (2020) and 59% (2021). AB  - Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is characterized by specific temperature requirements and develops best at about 20°C. High temperatures during the growing season cause an array of changes in potato plants, which affect its development and may lead to a drastic reduction in economic yield. Under natural conditions, drought and heat stress are two different types of abiotic stresses that occur in the field simultaneously or separately, especially in conditions without irrigation in potato production. This study aimed to examine the productivity of nine potato varieties in agro-ecological conditions of western Serbia and to find the genotypes that will give satisfactory and high yields. The field experiment was carried out with varieties: Cleopatra, Anuschka, Presto, Kuroda, Omega, Dita, Desiree, Roko and Jelly. The impact year and genotype on potato plants were tested during a four-year period (2010-2013). The final harvest was performed after the full maturity of plants in September. Our studies confirmed that potato marketable yield and total yield are greatly reduced at temperatures higher than optimal and deficit precipitation during the growing season. Here we demonstrated that the tested potato cultivar’s response to heat stress and drought in the growing season is dependent on the longer the adverse effects and the growth stage. The earlier a heat and drought occurs, the more negative the impact on the growth and productive traits of potatoes. The results obtained in this study indicate that among the tested cultivars Cleopatra was the most tolerant to heat and drought stress acting on the plants during the growing season. Our research shows that the total yield was not the only indicator of potato tolerance to abiotic stress during the growing season, but the assessment should also take into account the occurrence of secondary tuberization and physiological defects of tubers. These studies confirm that Cleopatra had the largest share (82%) of market tubers in relation to the total yield and to have the best predisposition for the highest economic yield of tubers. Our experiment showed that heat and drought tolerant potato cultivars could be used to mitigate the effects of global warming in Serbia and wider Western Balkans regions.

AB  - A total of six tomato seed populations, collected in the autumn of 2016 at different locations in Serbia (West (3), South (1), North (1) and East (1)), were enrolled in this study. Seeds of the tomato populations considered were produced in the organic growing system in the area of Zaovice (76 m a.s.l., chernozem), Stara Pazova, Northern Serbia (44˚ 47 '19.6" N, 20˚ 27' 56.2" E) in 2017. Analyses of the germination parameters of the tomato seed populations examined (namely the germination energy, total germination, abnormal seedlings and dead seeds of the tomato seeds considered) indicated significant (r  lt  0.01) differences according to the production year (A) and the tomato seed population (B). The impact interactions (r  lt  0.01) of these factors (A × B) proved significant only relative to dead seeds. A highly significant positive correlation was found between the germination energy and the total germination of the seeds considered (r = 0.8711, p  lt  0.001), as well as between the amounts of their abnormal seedlings and dead seeds (r = 0.92297, p  lt  0.001). The germination energy and the total germination of the tomato seeds considered were found to decrease with the increasing seed age, in contrast to the numbers of their abnormal seedlings and dead seeds which continued to increase with seed aging.
AB  - Seme šest populacija/sorti paradajza prikupljeno je u jesen 2016. sa različitih lokaliteta iz Srbije: zapadne (3 populacije), južne (1), severne (1) i istočne (1). Proizvodnja semena populacija paradajza u organskom sistemu gajenja izvedena je 2017. godine na lokaciji zapadne Srbije u Staroj Pazovi, potes Zovice (76 m n.v.) 44˚ 47 '19.6" N, 20˚ 27' 56.2" E. Cilj istraživanja je bio da se izvrši ocena uticaja godine i populacije na pokazatelje kvaliteta semena paradajza tokom 2017, 2018. i 2019.. Seme je čuvano u skladištu upakovano u pvc-kesama na temperaturi ispod 15ºC, RH 50%. Analiza energije klijanja, ukupne klijavosti, neneormalnih klijanaca i mrtvog semena paradjza pokazala je visoko značajne razlike (r lt 0,01) pod uticajem faktora godina (A) i populacija semena (B). Veoma značajna interakcija (r lt 0,01) ispitivanih faktora u pogledu mrtvog semena paradajza dobijena je samo kod međusobnog uticaja faktora A × B. Zabeležena je visoko značajna korelacija (p≤0.001) između energije klijanja i ukupne klijavosti, i između broja neneormalnih klijanaca i mrtvog semena. Energija klijanja i ukupna klijavost sa povećanjem starosti semena opadaju, dok broj nenormalnih klijanaca i mrtvog semena raste. Rezultati ovog rada treba da daju doprinos u shvatanju značaja autohtonih populacija/sorti ne samo paradajza, već i autohtonih sorti semena ostalog povrća; odnosno da ukažu na značaj očuvanja genetičkih resursa za organsku poljoprivredu.

Analysis of fresh and processed carrots and beets from organic and conventional production for the content of nutrients and antioxidant activity

AB  - In order to popularise organically produced vegetables, two vegetable crops most commonly grown in organic systems in Serbia were studied. This research aimed at investigating differences in phytonutrient content between organically and conventionally produced beet and carrot, in fresh roots, juices pasteurised at different temperatures (70 and 90oC) and dried products. Multivariate analysis (principal component analysis) was used in order to determine the main components accounting for the highest variance, from both systems of production, according to the average content of phytonutrients in beet and carrot. The samples were divided into two clusters, one for carrot and one for beet, each containing two subgroups. The subclusters for beet were: I - BDO, BDC, BJ90C, and BJ90O - dried samples and juices pasteurised at 90oC, from both systems of production; and II - BFC, BFO, BJ70O and BJ70C - fresh beet and pasteurisation at low temperatures. The two sub-clusters for carrot were: I - CDO and CDC - dried samples; and II - pasteurised juices and fresh carrots from both systems of production. In this research, carrot was more stable for processing than beet, as determined for samples from the study area, from both systems of production and for the phytonutrients covered by this research.
AB  - Da bi se izvršila popularizacija organski proizvedenog povrća, ispitane su dve povrtarske vrste koje se najčešće gaje u organskom sistemu u Srbiji. Ovo istraživanje ima za cilj da se ispitaju razlike u sadržaju fitonutrijenata kod cvekle i mrkve poreklom iz organske i konvencionalne proizvodnje, kod svežih korenova, kod sokova pasterizovanih na različitim temperaturama (70 i 90oC) i sušenog proizvoda. Korišćena je multivarijaciona analiza (analiza glavnih komponenti) kako bi se odredile glavne komponente nosioca najveće varijabilnosti, poreklom iz obe proizvodnje na osnovu prosečnog sadržaja fitonutrijenata kod cvekle i mrkve. Ispitivani uzorci nalaze se u dva klastera, klaster za mrkvu i klaster za cveklu, s tim što se u okviru svake pojedinačne grupe mogu definisati po dve podgrupe. Podgrupe za cveklu: I - sušeni uzorci i sokovi na 90oC iz oba načina proizvodnje; i II - sveža cvekla i pasterizacija na nižim temperaturama. Podgrupe za mrkvu: I - sušeni uzorci; i II - ostali tretmani zajedno sa svežom mrkvom iz oba načina proizvodnje. U ovim ispitivanjima za mrkvu se generalno može reći da je stabilnija za preradu od cvekle, a na osnovu uzoraka koji su sa ispitivanog područja, iz dva načina proizvodnje i za fitonutrijente obuhvaćene ovim ispitivanjem.

abstract = "In order to popularise organically produced vegetables, two vegetable crops most commonly grown in organic systems in Serbia were studied. This research aimed at investigating differences in phytonutrient content between organically and conventionally produced beet and carrot, in fresh roots, juices pasteurised at different temperatures (70 and 90oC) and dried products. Multivariate analysis (principal component analysis) was used in order to determine the main components accounting for the highest variance, from both systems of production, according to the average content of phytonutrients in beet and carrot. The samples were divided into two clusters, one for carrot and one for beet, each containing two subgroups. The subclusters for beet were: I - BDO, BDC, BJ90C, and BJ90O - dried samples and juices pasteurised at 90oC, from both systems of production; and II - BFC, BFO, BJ70O and BJ70C - fresh beet and pasteurisation at low temperatures. The two sub-clusters for carrot were: I - CDO and CDC - dried samples; and II - pasteurised juices and fresh carrots from both systems of production. In this research, carrot was more stable for processing than beet, as determined for samples from the study area, from both systems of production and for the phytonutrients covered by this research., Da bi se izvršila popularizacija organski proizvedenog povrća, ispitane su dve povrtarske vrste koje se najčešće gaje u organskom sistemu u Srbiji. Ovo istraživanje ima za cilj da se ispitaju razlike u sadržaju fitonutrijenata kod cvekle i mrkve poreklom iz organske i konvencionalne proizvodnje, kod svežih korenova, kod sokova pasterizovanih na različitim temperaturama (70 i 90oC) i sušenog proizvoda. Korišćena je multivarijaciona analiza (analiza glavnih komponenti) kako bi se odredile glavne komponente nosioca najveće varijabilnosti, poreklom iz obe proizvodnje na osnovu prosečnog sadržaja fitonutrijenata kod cvekle i mrkve. Ispitivani uzorci nalaze se u dva klastera, klaster za mrkvu i klaster za cveklu, s tim što se u okviru svake pojedinačne grupe mogu definisati po dve podgrupe. Podgrupe za cveklu: I - sušeni uzorci i sokovi na 90oC iz oba načina proizvodnje; i II - sveža cvekla i pasterizacija na nižim temperaturama. AB  - The  yield  components  of  pumpkin  seeds  and  fruits  were  examined  in  Stara  Pazova  in    period  2016-2017.  Different  pumpkin  populations were enrolled in the study, grown at following locations in Serbia: Šabac, Šumadija and Negotin. Pumpkin originating in Šumadija was found to produce highest seed yield (0.738 t ha־¹) and possess greatest average seed mass per  fruit  (110.7  g).  Highest  fruit  yield  (95.1  t  ha־¹)  and  greatest  fruit  mass  (14.5  kg)  were  recorded  in  population  from  Šabac.  Asignificant correlation (p ≤ 0.001) was found between fruit yield and fruit mass, as well as between seed yield and seed mass  per fruit. Based on two-year experiment,  following conclusions can be drawn: origin of population greatly affects all components of seed and fruit yield; high yields of seeds in Northern Serbia can be produced by cultivating population from Šumadija, whereas high yields of fruits can be produced by cultivating population from Šabac.
AB  - Istraživanje  komponenti  prinosa  semena  i  ploda  populacija  bele  bundeve  ispitivane  su  tokom  2016.  i  2017.  godine    na  lokaciji  severne Srbije u Staroj Pazovi. Za istraživanje korišćene su populacije bele bundeve poreklom sa tri različita lokaliteta  iz  Srbije:  zapadna (Šabac), centralna (Šumadija) i istočna (Negotin).Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju da poreklo populacije značajno (р<0,01) utiče na sve komponente prinosa bundeve. Kod populacije poreklom iz Šumadije utvrđen je najveći prinos  semena  (0,738  t  ha־¹) i najveća prosečna masa semena po plodu (110,7 g), dok je najveći ukupan prinos ploda bundeve (95,1 t ha־¹) i najveća prosečna masa ploda (14,3 kg) konstatovana kod populacije iz Šabca. Zabeležena je visoka korelaciona zavisnost (p≤0,001)između ukupnog prinosa ploda i prosečne mase ploda, kao i kod ukupnog prinosa semena i prosečne mase semena po plodu. Na osnovu rezultata dvogodišnjih istraživanja uticaja populacije i ekoloških uslova    na  komponente  prinosa  semena  i  ploda  bundeve,  možemo izvesti sledeće zaključke: - poreklo populacija bundeve značajno utiče  na  sve  komponente prinosaza  dobijanje  visokih  prinosa  semena  bundeve  u  uslovima  severne  Srbije  možemo  preporučiti populaciju poreklom iz Šumadije, dok za proizvodnju ploda treba gajiti populaciju bundeve iz Šabca.
