AB  - Paprika (Capsicum annuum L.) spada u grupu najznačajnijih povrtarskih
kultura. Ima visoku hranljivu i biološku vrednost. Plod paprike može da se
koristi u svežem ili prerađenom obliku i predstavlja bogat izvor vitamina, mineralnih materija i drugih organskih jedinjenja potrebnih u savremenoj
ishrani. Proizvodnja kvalitetnog rasada je preduslov za visok prinos i
nutritivni sastav ploda paprike. U ovom radu je ispitivan uticaj
mikrobioloških preparata EM Naturally active i EM-5 Vital plant purple (EM
i EM-5) na kvalitet i morfološke karakteristike rasada paprike sorte Župska
rana, stvorene u Institutu za povrtarstvo Smederevska Palanka. Utvrđene su
statistički značajne razlike u vrednostima ispitivanih parametara u sva tri
tretmana sa primenjenim mikrobiološkim preparatima u odnosu na kontrolnu
varijantu. Najveće vrednosti su zabeležene u T3 tretmanu koji je obuhvatao
tri apliciranja preparatima (zalivanjem i folijarno), u intervalu na svakih 7 dana, a vrlo značajne razlike su izražene kod izmerenih parametara težina biljke (13,20 g) i lisne površine (130,15 cm2).
AB  - Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) belongs to the group of the most
important vegetable crops. It has a high nutritional and biological value.
Pepper fruit can be used in fresh or processed form and is a rich source of vitamins, minerals and other organic compounds needed in modern
nutrition. The production of quality seedlings is a prerequisite for a high
yield and nutritional composition of the pepper fruit. In this paper, the influence of microbiological preparations (EM and EM-5) on the quality
and morphological characteristics of pepper seedlings of the variety Župska rana, created at the Institute for Vegetables Crops Smederevska
Palanka, was investigated. Statistically significant differences were found
in the values of the examined parameters in all three treatments with the applied microbiological preparations compared to the control variant. The highest values were recorded in the T3 treatment, which included three applications of preparations (watering and foliar) at an interval of every 7 days, and there are very significant differences expressed in the measured
parameters of plant weight (13.20 g) and leaf area (130.15 cm2).

AB  - The accumulation of heavy metals in the environment is one of the most significant environmental problems due to the potential risk to human and animal health. The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of the distance from the industrial zone on the heavy metal content in the soil and vegetative parts of wheat. A field experiment with four wheat genotypes was conducted in the area of the city of Pancevo, Serbia, at three locations at different distances from the industrial zone. By atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS), concentrations of five heavy metals (Zn, Pb, Cr, Cu, and Cd) were determined in the soil and wheat. The highest total content of Zn, Cr, Cu, and Cd in the soil (72.5, 27.3, 26.2, and 0.3 mg kg−1, respectively) was found at the location closest to the industrial zone, while the highest content of Pb (28.9 mg kg−1) was recorded at a location that is in the immediate vicinity of a road. Heatmap correlations and PCA analysis show a significant relationship between the content of heavy metals in the soil and the plant. Genotype Pobeda had the lowest content of Cr, Cu, and Cd in the root and the lowest content of all the analyzed heavy metals in the stem. The highest translocation factor of heavy metals was found in the genotype Apache, which had the highest content of Pb, Cr, and Cu in the stem. The highest heavy metal bioaccumulation and translocation were established for Cd content (0.86 and 1.93). The obtained results indicate a potential ecological risk in the immediate vicinity of the industrial zone, while the difference in the accumulation of heavy metals between the studied genotypes opens new aspects for breeding programs.

Genotype Pobeda had the lowest content of Cr, Cu, and Cd in the root and the lowest content of all the analyzed heavy metals in the stem. The highest translocation factor of heavy metals was found in the genotype Apache, which had the highest content of Pb, Cr, and Cu in the stem. The highest heavy metal bioaccumulation and translocation were established for Cd content (0.86 and 1.93). The obtained results indicate a potential ecological risk in the immediate vicinity of the industrial zone, while the difference in the accumulation of heavy metals between the studied genotypes opens new aspects for breeding programs.

abstract = "The accumulation of heavy metals in the environment is one of the most significant environmental problems due to the potential risk to human and animal health. The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of the distance from the industrial zone on the heavy metal content in the soil and vegetative parts of wheat. A field experiment with four wheat genotypes was conducted in the area of the city of Pancevo, Serbia, at three locations at different distances from the industrial zone. By atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS), concentrations of five heavy metals (Zn, Pb, Cr, Cu, and Cd) were determined in the soil and wheat. The highest total content of Zn, Cr, Cu, and Cd in the soil (72.5, 27.3, 26.2, and 0.3 mg kg−1, respectively) was found at the location closest to the industrial zone, while the highest content of Pb (28.9 mg kg−1) was recorded at a location that is in the immediate vicinity of a road. Heatmap correlations and PCA analysis show a significant relationship between the content of heavy metals in the soil and the plant. AB  - Usmeravajući selekciju kupusa prema potrebama tržišta u kvalitetu u prinosu
i otpornosti u Institutu za povrtarstvo S. Palanka selekcionisano je 7 linija iz populacije
Izpscc u kojoj je detektovan visok sadržaj šećera i to u rasponu od 6,1 do
9,6%, a prosek je 3,8 - 4,2%. Selekcija linija započeta je metodom individualnog
odabiranja iz populacije, a nastavljena je Pedigre metodom. Osnovni kriterijumi
pri selekciji bili su; erektofilna rozeta, listovi sa dugačkom lisnom drškom koja
olakšava fototropizme, dva ovojna lista zelene boje, unutrašnji kočan kraći od 50%
visine glavice i sadržaj ukupnih šećera viši od 7,5 %, dobro zbijena glavica kao i
masa glavice preko 1,6 kg. Ogled sa 7 selekcionisanih linija: G1, G2, G3, G4, G5,
G6 i G7 postavljen je u 3 ponavljanja na oglednom polju Instituta za povrtartsvo
tokom 2020, 2021. i 2022. Pored osobina: glavice, rozete i uniformnosti, praćena
je stabilnost sadržaja ukupnžnih šećera (%). AMMI analiza (glavni aditivni efekti
i višestruka interakcija) za osobinu ukupnog sadržaja šećera pokazala je najveću
stabilnost linije G3, dok su G2 i G5 bile sledeće u rangiranju po stabilnosti, u svim
ispitivanim sezonama. Sadržaj šećera kod G3 u 2020. iznosio je prosečno 8,5%, u
2021 8,9%, dok je sadržaj šećera u 2022. godini bio najniži i prosečno je iznosio
7,7%. Najveći sadržaj šećera izmeren je kod linije G5 u 2021 i iznosio je 9,6%.
Odabrane linije G3, G2 i G5, visokog genetičkog potencijala za sadržaj šečera iskorišćene
su kao očinske linije u procesu selekcije visokoprinosnih, otpornih i slatkih
srednje kasnih i kasnih hibrida kupusa koji se očekuju na tržištu od 2027. godine.
AB  - Directing the selection of cabbage according to the needs of the market in terms
of quality, yield and resistance, 7 lines from the Izpscc population were selected in
the S. Palanka Institute of Vegetables, in which high sugar content was detected,
ranging from 6.1 to 9.6%, and the average is 3.8 - 4.2%. The selection of lines was
started with the method of individual selection from the population, and continued

leaves with a long petiole that facilitates phototropism, two sheathing leaves of green
color, inner stem shorter than 50% of the height of the head and content of total
sugars higher than 7.5%, well-compacted head as well as head weight over 1.6 kg.
An experiment with 7 selected lines: G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G6 and G7 was set up in
3 replications on the experimental field of the Institute of Vegetables during 2020,
2021 and 2022. In addition to the characteristics: heads, rosettes and uniformity,
stability was monitored content of total sugars (%). AMMI analysis (additive main
effects and multiplicative interaction) for the trait of total sugar content showed
the highest stability of the G3 line, while G2 and G5 were ranked next in terms
of stability, in all investigated seasons. The sugar content of G3 in 2020 averaged
8.5%, in 2021 8.9%, while the sugar content in 2022 was the lowest and averaged
7.7%. The highest sugar content was measured for the G5 line in 2021 and was
9.6%. Selected lines G3, G2 and G5, with high genetic potential for sugar content,
were used as paternal lines in the selection process of high-yielding, resistant and
sweet mid-late and late cabbage hybrids expected on the market from 2027.

AB  - Paprika (Capsicum annuum L.) je jedna od najvažnijih povrtarskih vrsta kako zbog površina na kojima se gaji, tako i zbog raznovrsne upotrebe od svežeg stanja do različitih proizvoda u industrijskoj preradi. Zbog sve veće potražnje kvalitetnih plodova paprike za industrijsku preradu postavili smo sebi za cilj stvaranje nove sorte paprike sa visokim prinosom i sadržajem suve materije. Nakon višegodišnjeg procesa selekcije, pedigree metodom selekcije stvorena je Moravska lepotica, sa visokim sadržajem suve materije i boje, veoma krupnih i atraktivnih plodova. Ona je priznata Rešenjem Ministarstva poljoprivrede, šumarstva i vodoprivrede Republike Srbije pod br. 320-04-3330/2/2021-11 од 22.12.2022.
AB  - Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) is one of the most important vegetable species both because of the areas in which it is grown and because of its diverse uses from fresh to various products in industrial processing. Due to the increasing demand for high-quality pepper fruits for industrial processing, we have set ourselves the goal of creating a new variety of peppers with a high yield and dry matter content. After a multi-year selection process, the Moravska lepotica was created using the pedigree method of selection with a high content of dry matter and color, very large and attractive fruits. It is recognized by the Decision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia, No 320-04-3330/2/2021-11 dated 22.12.2022.

AB  - Institut za povrtarstvo u Smederevskoj Palanci ostvaruje najznačajniji deo prihoda od prodaje semena paprika svog i slobodnog sortimenta.
Praćen je prinos semena ukupno 21 komercijalne sorti i hibrida od 2010.
do 2020 godine. Kalkulacija proizvodnje semena paprike zasnovana je na
11 godišnjem proseku prinosa svih paprika koje su proizvedene u
kooperaciji Instituta. Prosečan prinos semena paprike od 2010-2020.
godine je varijabilan i kreće se od 123,8 kg ha-1 do 303,4 kg ha-1, dok je ukupan prosečni prinos posmatran u svim sezonama 177,8 kg ha-1.
Prosečan koeficijent varijacije prinosa semena iznosio je 0,59 i njegova
visoka vrednost pokazuje veliki uticaj agroekoloških uslova u sezoni, kao
i tehnologije gajenja paprike i pre svega uloženih inputa. Proizvodnja
semena paprike se pokazala rentabilnom jer se ostvaruje prosečna dobit po hektaru u visini od 15.403,00 €. Ostvarena je visoka ekonomičnost
proizvodnje i iznosila je Ep=2,39, a na svakih 100 € prihoda ostvarena
dobit od 58,41 €.
AB  - The Institute for Vegetable Crops in Smederevska Palanka realizes the most important part of its income from the sale of pepper seeds of its own and free assortment. The seed yield of a total of 21 commercial varieties and hybrids was monitored from 2010 to 2020. The calculation of pepper
seed production is based on the 11-year average yield of all peppers
produced in cooperation with the Institute. Average yield of pepper seeds
from 2010-2020. is variable and ranges from 123.8 kg ha-1 to 303.4 kg ha-
1, while the total average yield observed in all seasons is 177.8 kg ha-1. The
average coefficient of variation of the seed yield was 0.59 and its high value shows the great influence of agro-ecological conditions in the season,
as well as the technology of pepper cultivation and, above all, the invested
inputs. The production of pepper seeds has proven to be profitable because the average profit per hectare is €15,403.00. A high economy of production
was achieved, which was Ep=2.39. and for every €100 of income, the
realized profit is €58.41.

abstract = "Institut za povrtarstvo u Smederevskoj Palanci ostvaruje najznačajniji deo prihoda od prodaje semena paprika svog i slobodnog sortimenta.
Praćen je prinos semena ukupno 21 komercijalne sorti i hibrida od 2010.
do 2020 godine. Kalkulacija proizvodnje semena paprike zasnovana je na
11 godišnjem proseku prinosa svih paprika koje su proizvedene u
kooperaciji Instituta. Prosečan prinos semena paprike od 2010-2020.
godine je varijabilan i kreće se od 123,8 kg ha-1 do 303,4 kg ha-1, dok je ukupan prosečni prinos posmatran u svim sezonama 177,8 kg ha-1.
Prosečan koeficijent varijacije prinosa semena iznosio je 0,59 i njegova
visoka vrednost pokazuje veliki uticaj agroekoloških uslova u sezoni, kao
i tehnologije gajenja paprike i pre svega uloženih inputa. Proizvodnja
semena paprike se pokazala rentabilnom jer se ostvaruje prosečna dobit po hektaru u visini od 15.403,00 €. Ostvarena je visoka ekonomičnost
proizvodnje i iznosila je Ep=2,39, a na svakih 100 € prihoda ostvarena
dobit od 58,41 €., The Institute for Vegetable Crops in Smederevska Palanka realizes the most important part of its income from the sale of pepper seeds of its own and free assortment. The seed yield of a total of 21 commercial varieties and hybrids was monitored from 2010 to 2020. The calculation of pepper
seed production is based on the 11-year average yield of all peppers
produced in cooperation with the Institute. Average yield of pepper seeds
from 2010-2020. is variable and ranges from 123.8 kg ha-1 to 303.4 kg ha-
1, while the total average yield observed in all seasons is 177.8 kg ha-1. The
average coefficient of variation of the seed yield was 0.59 and its high value shows the great influence of agro-ecological conditions in the season,
as well as the technology of pepper cultivation and, above all, the invested
inputs. The production of pepper seeds has proven to be profitable because the average profit per hectare is €15,403.00. A high economy of production
was achieved, which was Ep=2.39. and for every €100 of income, the
realized profit is €58.41.",

AB  - Sortiment paprike obuhvata značajan broj različitih genotipova i spada u jedno od najpopularnijih povrća širom sveta. Ukupna klijavost značajno je bila viša kod genotipa feferone (88,5±0,17%), u odnosu na genotipove
tipa babure i pimiento u sezoni 2021. godine.
Parametar vlage semena statistički se značajno razlikovao kod genotipa babure (9,02±0,02%) i bio je viši u odnosu na ostale genotipove u 2021.
godini. Ukupna klijavost u 2022. godini bila je najviša kod feferone i iznosila je 85,83±0,33%, ali se nije statistički značajno razlikovao u
odnosu na genotip babure. Procenat vlage bio je najviši kod genotipa pimiento, iznosio je 10,13±0,02%. Zdravstvena ispravnost semena u
posmatranom periodu bila je u okviru propisanih granica.
AB  - Pepper assortment includes many different genotypes and represents
one of the most popular vegetables worldwide. Total germination was
significantly higher in the pepperoni genotype (88.5±0.17%), compared to
the babura and pimiento genotypes during the season 2021. The seed moisture parameter statistically significantly differed in the babura
genotype (9.02±0.02%) and was higher compared to the other genotypes
in 2021. The total germination rate in 2022 was the highest in pepperoni
and amounted to 85.83±0.33%, it was not statistically significantly different to the babura genotype. The percentage of moisture was the
highest in the pimiento genotype and was 10.13±0.02%. The seed health
in the observed period was within the prescribed limits.

AB  - Paprika (Capsicum annuum L.) je jedna od najvažnijih povrtarskih vrsta kako
zbog površina na kojima se gaji, tako i zbog raznovrsne upotrebe od svežeg stanja
do različitih proizvoda u industrijskoj preradi. Zbog sve veće potražnje kvalitetnih

sorte paprike sa visokim prinosom i sadržajem suve materije. Nakon višegodišnjeg
procesa selekcije, pedigree metodom selekcije stvorena je Moravska lepotica,
sa visokim sadržajem suve materije i boje, veoma krupnih i atraktivnih plodova.
Ona je priznata Rešenjem Ministarstva poljoprivrede, šumarstva i vodoprivrede
Republike Srbije pod br. 320-04-3330/2/2021-11 od 22.12.2022.

various food processing industry usage both fresh and proceeded. Due to the increasing
demand for high-quality pepper fruits for industrial processing, our goal
was to create a new pepper variety with a high yield and dry matter content. After
many years of selection, new variety named “Moravska lepotica” (The Moravian
beauty) was created by applying the pedigree method. This variety had high content
of dry matter and colour, very large and attractive fruits. It was recognized
by the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and water management of the Republic of
Serbia, No 320-04-3330/2/2021-11 dated 22.12.2022.

AB  - Uticaj genotipa i sredine (sezone, roka setve, tretmana hormonom
GA3) na klijavost semena kupusa kod tri roditeljska genotipa i tri njihova
hibrida, selekcionisanih u dialelnom ukrštanju, ispitivana je u sezonama
koje su bile: jedna ekstremno hladna, jedna veoma topla i jedna prosečna.
Seme kupusa proizvodeno je tako što je iskorišćena mogućnost
vernalizacije, tj. pojava cvetnog mehanizma tipičnog za uljanu repicu.
Ogled je postavljen u rokovima setve pogodnim za proizvodnju uljane
repice, a jedan od ciljeva bio je da se izbegne forimiranje glavice iz
razloga njene neotpornosti na niske temperature. Analizom varijanse
potvrđena je statistička značajnost uticaja svih ispitivanih faktora na
klijavost semena. Hibridi su pokazali izvesne vrednosti apsolutnog i
relativnog heterozisa na osobinu klijavosti u odnosu na roditeljske
genotipove. Analiza varijanse AMMI modela ukazala je na značajne
razlike između genotipova i spoljne sredine: tretmana, rokova setve i
godina kao i njihovih interakcija (genotip x spoljna sredina) na klijavost
semena. U ukupnoj sumi kvadrata, 53,5% se odnosilo na efekat spoljne
sredine, što je 6,14 puta više nego vrednost sume kvadrata genotipova.
AB  - The influence of genotype and environment (season, sowing date, GA3
hormone treatment) on the germination of cabbage seeds in three parents
and three F1 hybrids selected in a diallel cross was examined in seasons
that were: one extremely cold, one very warm and one average. Cabbage
seeds produced by utilizing the possibility of vernalization, i.e. the
appearance of a flower mechanism typical of oilseed rape. The
experiment was set up in the sowing dates typical for the production of
oilseed rape, and one of the goals was to avoid the formation of the head
due to its lack of resistance to low temperatures. Analysis of variance
confirmed the statistical significance of the influence of all factors on
seed germination. The hybrids showed certain values of absolute and
relative heterosis for the germination trait in relation to the parental
genotypes. Analysis of the variance of the AMMI model shows
significant differences between genotypes and external environment:
treatments, sowing dates and years, as well as their interactions (genotype
x external environment) on seed germination. 53.5% of the sum of
squares was related to the effect of the external environment, which is
6.14 times more than the value of the sum of squares of the genotypes.

AB  - The present study focused on detecting bacteria of the Xanthomonas spp. complex
(X. euvesicatoria, X. vesicatoria, X. perforans and X. gardneri) and examining their influence on
certain quality parameters of pepper seed collected from the territory of Smederevska Palanka
(Serbia). The analysis included 27 non-commercial pepper seed genotypes (including chili and
sweet pepper) collected in 2021. Several parameters of the quality of analyzed pepper seed
(germination energy, total germination, moisture and seed health) were determined. The results
showed that out of a total of 27 analyzed samples of pepper seed, the presence of X. euvesicatoria
was detected in 13 of them. The presence of X. vesicatoria, X. gardneri and X. perforans was not
confirmed. Germination energy of infected seed was 52-84%, and of bacteria-free seed 63-90%;
total germination of infected seed was 66-91%, and of bacteria-free seed 80-95%. Seed moisture
of infected seed samples was 6.1-12%, and of bacteria-free seed 6.2-8.1%. These parameters did
not show significant statistical difference (p>0.05). The presence of seed-borne fungi Fusarium
sp. accounted for up to 3% in 25 samples, while it was up to 6% in the remaining two; Alternaria
sp. ranked from 1-4% in 25 samples, and up to 5% in only two samples. The results led to a
conclusion that the bacterium X. euvesicatoria is the predominant pathogen of the Xanthomonas
spp. complex, but it did not affect the quality parameters of the tested pepper seed.
AB  - U ovom radu izvršena je detekcija bakterija iz kompleksa Xanthomonas (X. euvesicatoria, X.
vesicatoria, X. perforans i X. gardneri) i ispitan uticaj prisustva bakterija na određene parametre
kvaliteta semena paprike poreklom sa teritorije Smederevske Palanke (Srbija). Analiza je
obuhvatila 27 nekomercijalnih genotipova semena paprike (uključujući čili i slatku papriku)
prikupljenih u sezoni 2021. godine. U radu su ocenjeni parametri kvaliteta semena paprike i
to energija klijanja, ukupna klijavost, vlaga i zdravstvena ispravnost. Rezultati su pokazali da
je od ukupno 27 analiziranih uzoraka semena paprike, prisustvo X. euvesicatoria detektovano
kod ukupno 13 uzoraka. Prisustvo X. vesicatoria, X. gardneri i X. perforans nije utvrđeno
ni u jednom uzorku semena paprike. Energija klijanja zaraženog semena je iznosila od
52-84%, a kod semena bez prisustva bakterija od 63-90%; ukupna klijavost u zaraženom
semenu je bila od 66-91%, a u semenu bez prisustva bakterija 80-95%. Vlažnost semena u
zaraženim uzorcima je iznosila 6,1-12%, a u uzorcima bez prisustva bakterija između 6,2-8,1%.
Utvrđivani parametri kvaliteta se nisu značajno razlikovali na statističkom nivou (p>0,05).
Prisustvo fitopatogenih gljiva koje se prenose semenom je utvrđeno u svim uzorcima semena
paprike, i to Fusarium sp. do 3% kod ukupno 25 uzoraka, dok je kod dva uzorka zaraza bila i
do 6%; prisustvo Alternaria sp. je bilo od 1-4% kod ukupno 25, a kod dva uzorka više, do 5%.
Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju da je bakterija X. euvesicatoria dominantan patogen iz kompleksa
Xanthomonas vrsta, ali da utvrđeno prisustvo nije značajno uticalo na parametre kvaliteta
semena paprike

AB  - Proučavanja štetnih vrsta insekata na paradajzu (Solanum
lycopersicum L.), na oglednim i proizvodnim parcelama Instituta za
povrtarstvo u Smederevskoj Palanci, obavljena su korišćenjem
standardnih entomoloških metoda i pribora. Na paradajzu, na
posmatranim površinama, u zaštićenom prostoru i na otvorenom polju,
registrovane su četiri vrste insekata: duvanova sovica (Helicoverpa
armigera Hübner), moljac paradajza (Tuta absoluta Meyrick),
kalifornijski cvetni trips (Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande)) i zelena
povrtna stenica (Nezara viridula (L.)). Veća oštećenja izazvale su H.
armigera i T. absoluta, čije su larve nanele štetu hraneći se i na
vegetativnim i na generativnim organima paradajza, dok su F.
occidentalis i N. viridula bile manje zastupljene ne nanoseći veća
oštećenja.
AB  - Studies of harmful insect species on tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.) in the experimental and production fields of the Institute for Vegetable Crops in Smederevska Palanka were carried out using standard entomological methods and equipment. Four species of insects were registered on tomatoes, on the observed  fields, in the greenhouses and in the open field: the tobacco bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera Hübner), the tomato leafminer (Tuta absoluta Meyrick), the western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande)) and the Southern green stink bug (Nezara viridula (L.)). Highest damage was caused by H. armigera and T. absoluta, whose larvae caused damage by feeding on both vegetative and generative organs of tomato, while F. occidentalis and N. viridula were less abundant and did not cause more damage.

AB  - Proučavanja štetnih vrsta insekata na paradajzu (Solanumlycopersicum L.), na oglednim i proizvodnim parcelama Instituta zapovrtarstvo u Smederevskoj Palanci, obavljena su korišćenjemstandardnih entomoloških metoda i pribora. Na paradajzu, naposmatranim površinama, u zaštićenom prostoru i na otvorenom polju,registrovane su četiri vrste insekata: duvanova sovica (Helicoverpaarmigera Hübner), moljac paradajza (Tuta absoluta Meyrick),kalifornijski cvetni trips (Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande)) i zelenapovrtna stenica (Nezara viridula (L.)). Veća oštećenja izazvale su H.armigera i T. absoluta, čije su larve nanele štetu hraneći se i navegetativnim i na generativnim organima paradajza, dok su F.occidentalis i N. viridula bile manje zastupljene ne nanoseći većaoštećenja.
AB  - Studies of harmful insect species on tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.) in the experimental and production fields of the Institute for Vegetable Crops in Smederevska Palanka were carried out using standard entomological methods and equipment. Four species of insects were registered on tomatoes, on the observed  fields, in the greenhouses and in the open field: the tobacco bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera Hübner), the tomato leafminer (Tuta absoluta Meyrick), the western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande)) and the Southern green stink bug (Nezara viridula (L.)). Highest damage was caused by H. armigera and T. absoluta, whose larvae caused damage by feeding on both vegetative and generative organs of tomato, while F. occidentalis and N. viridula were less abundant and did not cause more damage.

AB  - Velika divergentost genotipova u okviru gajene vrste Capsicum
annuum L. omogućava neiscrpni proces selekcije u kreiranju novih
hibrida, sorti i linija. U Srbiji postoji mnogo sorti paprike stvorenih za
različite namene, ali mali broj je stvoren procesom selekcije. Cilј našeg
rada je bio da se prikažu ekonomski najznačajnije morfološke osobine
nekih perspektivnih linija Instituta za povrtarstvo u Smederevskoj
Palanci. Od posmatranih 5 genotipova izdvojio se genotip LPK-10/1 kod
kojeg su utvrđene najveće, statistički značajno različite, vrednosti u
odnosu na ostala 4 genotipa. Takođe, genotip LPK-05 se izdvojio visokim
vrednostima za masu ploda, debljinu perikarpa i sadržaj suve materije.
Ispitivani genotipovi su uklјučeni u dalji proces selekcije u cilјu stvaranja
novih sorti i linija paprike pedigre metodom selekcije.
AB  - The great divergence of genotypes within the cultivated species Capsicum annuum L. enables an inexhaustible process of selection in the creation of new hybrids, varieties, and lines. In Serbia, there are many pepper varieties created for different uses, but a small number have been created through a process of selection. The goal of our work was to show the most economically significant morphological traits of some perspective lines of the Institute for vegetable crops in Smederevska Palanka. Of the observed 5 genotypes, the genotype LPK-10/1 was singled out, with the highest, statistically significantly different values compared to the other 4 genotypes. Also, genotype LPK-05 was singled out with high values for fruit mass, pericarp thickness, and dry matter content. The tested genotypes were included in the further selection process in order to create new varieties and pepper lines by the pedigree selection method.

шумарства и водопривреде Републике Србије под бр. 320-04-3330/2/2021-11 од 22.12.2022.
Сорта је у типу капије, чији су плодови двострано спљоштени. Припада групи средњестасних
паприка, чији су плодови намењени употреби у свежем стању и за индустријску прераду. Боја
плодова у технолошкој зрелости је тамнозелена, а у биолошкој тамно црвена. Плодови су крупни,
чија се просечна тежина креће око 230г. Високо приносна је паприка, где уз употребу пуне
агротехнике може остварити приносе и преко 60т/ха. Посебан акценат треба ставити на висок
садржај суве материје и боје, тако да је веома погодна за справљање ајвара као и у индустријској
преради за прављење различитих производа од паприке.

šumarstva i vodoprivrede Republike Srbije pod br. 320-04-3330/2/2021-11 od 22.12.2022.
Sorta je u tipu kapije, čiji su plodovi dvostrano spljošteni. Pripada grupi srednjestasnih
paprika, čiji su plodovi namenjeni upotrebi u svežem stanju i za industrijsku preradu. Boja
plodova u tehnološkoj zrelosti je tamnozelena, a u biološkoj tamno crvena. Plodovi su krupni,
čija se prosečna težina kreće oko 230g. Visoko prinosna je paprika, gde uz upotrebu pune
agrotehnike može ostvariti prinose i preko 60t/ha. Poseban akcenat treba staviti na visok
sadržaj suve materije i boje, tako da je veoma pogodna za spravljanje ajvara kao i u industrijskoj
preradi za pravljenje različitih proizvoda od paprike.

AB  - Carrot (Daucus carota L.) is one of the most important root vegetables in the Apiaceae family
grown around the world. Production of carrots in Serbia is generated in Vojvodina with the
highest yields 27.4 t/ha, while other regions generate lower yields. Current studies on carrots
mainly focus on nutrient content and carotenoid synthesis. Seeds can be infected with
phytopathogens, which can contaminate other seeds or spread the infection to other crops. Out of
the 16% of annual crop losses due to plant diseases, at least 10% are caused by seed-borne
diseases. Changes in the quality of Nantes carrot seeds were monitored for three years (2019-
2021). Total germination was highest in the first year with 92% (2019). In 2020, there was a
significant decrise in total germination of 8%. Accordingly, germination energy was reduced

grown around the world. Production of carrots in Serbia is generated in Vojvodina with the
highest yields 27.4 t/ha, while other regions generate lower yields. Current studies on carrots
mainly focus on nutrient content and carotenoid synthesis. Seeds can be infected with
phytopathogens, which can contaminate other seeds or spread the infection to other crops. Out of
the 16% of annual crop losses due to plant diseases, at least 10% are caused by seed-borne
diseases. Changes in the quality of Nantes carrot seeds were monitored for three years (2019-
2021). Total germination was highest in the first year with 92% (2019). In 2020, there was a
significant decrise in total germination of 8%. Accordingly, germination energy was reduced

AB  - Cereal grains have represented the principal component of the human diet for thousands of years. Modern cereal production can not be imagined without the use of mineral fertilizers, particularly in terms of better utilization of biological potential of the yield of growing plants. The aim of this study was to evaluate the energetic efficiency of wheat and barley production, with special reference to the share of the use of mineral fertilizers in total energy consumption. Input data and yield of wheat and barley fields were collected in the experimental trials in Serbia. Results showed that total energy inputs of wheat and barley fields were 22178.04and15921.16 MJ·ha-1, respectively. Total energy outputs for wheat and barley fields were 80037.83 and 104496.08 MJ·ha-1,respectively. The results obtained indicate that mineral fertilizers claim a share of the total energy consumption in cereal production ranging from 49.19% in barley to 52.01% in wheat. Specific energy input, energy output–input ratio (energy use efficiency), energy productivity and net energy gain were 5.13 MJ·kg-1, 3.61,0.19 kg·MJ-1and57859.79MJ·ha-1in wheat system and 2.75 MJ·kg-1, 6.56, 0.36 kg·MJ-1and88574.92 MJ·ha-1in barley system, respectively. According to the results, it seems that barley production is more efficient from different aspects of energy consumption compared to wheat in the studied region. In general, production in barley fields was more sustainable than wheat production because, in view of ecological indices such as amount of energy use and renewable energy consumption, it was more environment-friendly production.

AB  - Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) are used in the diet around the world and are a significant source of proteins, especially in lower-income countries. In recent years, their importance has been growing, especially due to its beneficial effects on human health and the global epidemic of obesity and diabetes. Worldwide, the average yield of beans has varied from 786 to 894.7 in the past ten years. In the same period, the areas under beans have varied significantly, but there is a gradual increase in arable land under this crop (30,685 thousand ha in 2010 to 33,066 thousand ha in 2019). In that period, there has been also an increase in production (from 24,775,394 t in 2010 to 2,8902,672 t in 2019). The paper analyzes the situation in bean production in the Republic of Serbia in the period from 2001 to 2020, as well as possible reasons for the observed trends. In that period, average yields varied over the years ranging from 808 kg/ha (in 2012) to 1294 kg/ha (in 2006) and can be explained by favorable and unfavorable temperature conditions. Despite the relatively good prices of beans, which varied from 0.99 to 1.35 USD/kg in 2004 to 2.23 to 4.12 USD/kg in 2014, depending on the size and color of the seeds, and possible profit, a significant decrease in the area under beans was observed (from 24,968 ha in 2001 to 8,512 ha in 2020) and a reduction in total production (30,927 t in 2001 to 9,253 t in 2020).

Najveći prinos ostvarila je sorta PKB Kardinal (9437 kg ha-1 ), a najmanji sorta Favorit (6877 kg ha-1 ), u obje godine ispitivanja. U 2020. godini, koja je bila povoljnija za proizvodnju, ostvaren je prosječan prinos za sve sorte od 9010 kg ha-1 , dok je u 2019. godini ostvaren prinos od 7811 kg ha-1 . Sadržaj proteina u zrnu ovisio je o ispitivanim sortama i godinama. U prosjeku, sadržaj proteina se kretao od 12,02 % (Odisej) do 14,40 % (Favorit). Gledajući godine, prosječan sadržaj proteina u zrnu bio je veći u sušnoj vegetacijskoj sezoni 2018./2019. za oko 27 % nego u kišnoj 2019./2020.
AB  - The paper presents the results of testing of yield of four winter triticale cultivars, represented in general production in Serbia: PKB Kardinal (PKB Agroekonomik Institute), Trijumf and Favorit (Small Grain Center, Kragujevac) and Odisej (Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops), Novi Sad). Investigations were performed at the Experimental Field of PKB Agroekonomik Institute, in Padinska Skela, in production years 2019. and 2020. A statistically significant difference in yield by years and cultivars was found. The highest yield was achieved by the cultivar PKB Kardinal (9437 kg ha-1 ), and the lowest by the cultivar Favorit (6877 kg ha-1 ), in both examined years. In 2020., which was more favorable for production, the average yield of 9010 kg ha-1 was achieved for all cultivars while in 2019. the yield was 7811 kg ha-1 . The protein content in the grain depended on investigated cultivars and years. On average, the protein content ranged from 12.02 % (Odisej) to 14.40 % (Favorit). Looking at the years, the average protein content in the grain was higher by about 27 % in the dry vegetation season 2018./2019. than in the rainy 2019./2020.

General combining ability and heterosis of sex expression traits in melon

AB  - Melon is an annual, cross-pollinated species belonging to the family of Cucurbitaceae. Melon
plants are usually monoecious: male and female flowers develop on one plant, but most
commercial varieties and hybrids are andromonoecious, and on their plants develop male and
hermaphrodite flowers. On melon plants, male flowers appear first, and then develop flowers
with female reproductive organs. In this experiment, eight melon genotypes (parents), of which
four were monoecious (Sesame, ED-3, ED-4, Pobeditel), and four andromonoecious (Chinese
muskmelon, Anannas, Honey dew, A2-3lb), and their 20 hybrids (monoecious) were used. The
experiment was conducted in Smederevska Palanka, during two vegetative seasons. Seven
characteristics related to sex expression were observed. The aim was to determine the parents
with the best general combining abilities (GCA) and to determine the heterosis in their hybrids
for all seven observed traits. Negative heterosis for the trait period from sowing to the emergence
of the first perfect/pistillate flower was recorded in 16 of 20 genotypes. A reduction of the period
between the appearance of male (positive heterosis) and perfect/pistillate flowers on plants
(negative heterosis) was found in 12 hybrid combinations. It was found that in as many as 17
hybrid combinations, the fruits ripen earlier than their parents. All eight observed parental
genotypes showed significant GCA values for most of the observed traits. The results showed
that the Sesame was the best general combiner, and represented a potential source of the desired
alleles required for the melon breeding programs.

abstract = "Melon is an annual, cross-pollinated species belonging to the family of Cucurbitaceae. Melon
plants are usually monoecious: male and female flowers develop on one plant, but most
commercial varieties and hybrids are andromonoecious, and on their plants develop male and
hermaphrodite flowers. On melon plants, male flowers appear first, and then develop flowers
with female reproductive organs. In this experiment, eight melon genotypes (parents), of which
four were monoecious (Sesame, ED-3, ED-4, Pobeditel), and four andromonoecious (Chinese
muskmelon, Anannas, Honey dew, A2-3lb), and their 20 hybrids (monoecious) were used. The
experiment was conducted in Smederevska Palanka, during two vegetative seasons. Seven
characteristics related to sex expression were observed. The aim was to determine the parents
with the best general combining abilities (GCA) and to determine the heterosis in their hybrids
for all seven observed traits. Negative heterosis for the trait period from sowing to the emergence
of the first perfect/pistillate flower was recorded in 16 of 20 genotypes. A reduction of the period
between the appearance of male (positive heterosis) and perfect/pistillate flowers on plants
(negative heterosis) was found in 12 hybrid combinations. It was found that in as many as 17
hybrid combinations, the fruits ripen earlier than their parents. All eight observed parental
genotypes showed significant GCA values for most of the observed traits. The results showed
that the Sesame was the best general combiner, and represented a potential source of the desired
alleles required for the melon breeding programs.",

AB  - Соја је једна од најважнијих ратарских биљних врста, која за
успешно гајење захтева укупне количине падавина између 450 и
480 mm, као и оптималне температуре између 22 и 25 °C, у
зависности од фенофазе развоја.
Циљ истраживања овог рада био је да се испита утицај
различитих агроеколошких услова на принос генотипова соје из
различитих група зрења гајених на четири локалитета у Војводини
током три године истраживања (2014-2016). И з 0 г рупе г ајене с у
сорте Ваљевка, Галина и Принцеза, из I групе Сава, НС-Аполо и
Викторија, из II групе Рубин, НС-Зита и Тријумф. Подаци су узети
са локалитета: Нови Сад, Зрењанин, Палић (Суботица), Билић
(Сомбор).
Просечне месечне температуре за трогодишњи истраживачки
период на свим локалитетима нису значајно одступале од
вишегодишњег просека и нису имале већег утицаја на принос.
Највећи принос код свих сорти је постигнут 2014. године, која је по
суми падавина била најповољнија, а кретао се од 4.128 kg ha-1у
Новом Саду, 4721 kg ha-1 у Зрењанину, 5523 kg ha-1 на Палићу и
4741 kg ha-1 у Билићу.
AB  - Soybean is one of the most important field plant species that requires a
total amount of precipitation between 450 and 480 mm, as well as
optimal temperatures between 22 and 25 °C, depending on the
phenophase of development.
The aim of this study was to examine the influence of different
agroecological conditionson the yield of soybean genotypes from
different maturation groups at four localities in Vojvodina during three
years of research (2014-16). From group 0 were grown varieties
Valjevka, Galina and Princess, from group I - Sava, NS-Apollo and
Victorija, from groupII - Rubin, NS-Zita and Triumph. Data were taken
from the following locations: Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Palić (Subotica), Bilić
(Sombor).
The average monthly temperatures for the stated period at all localities
did not deviate significantly from the multi-year average and did not have
a greater impact on the yield. The best yield of all varieties was achieved
in 2014, which was the most favorable in terms of precipitation,

AB  - У раду су приказани резултати селекције индустријских сорти
грашка Института за повртарство, Смедеревска Паланка. У
Институту се, почев од 2000. године, ради нови селекциони програм
који обухвата стварање индустријских сорти грашка, где су махуна и
зрно израженог квалитета, а имају концентрично сазревање због
једнократног убирања, механизованим начином. Створени су нови
генотипови грашка са уграђеним генетским предусловима за висок
принос, крупноћу и квалитет зрна и махуна, као и отпорности према
проузроковачима болести. Новостворени генотипови Галија, СГ-РР-
3 и С Г-РР-6 припадају грашку са нормалном грађом листа и имају
побољшани квалитет, који се препоручује сетвеним програмима код
произвођача који гаје грашак за индустријски начин убирања и
индустријску прераду, конзервирањем и замрзавањем. Генотипови
ЖЖ-7 и Ж Ж-28 припадају афила типу грашка, са врло фином
махуном и зрном прилагођеним за индустријски начин убирања, тј.
сортама без лишћа које уместо лиски поседују витице
(трансформација је условљена деловањем једног рецесивног гена af)
и те сорте су потпуно отпорне на полегање.
AB  - The paper presents the results of selection of industrial pea varieties of
the Institute of Vegetable Crops, Palanka. Since 2000, the Institute has
been working on a new selection program that includes the creation of
industrial varieties of peas, where the pods and grains are of pronounced
quality and have concentric ripening due to one-time harvesting, in a
mechanized manner. New pea genotypes have been created with built-in
genetic preconditions for high yield, size and quality of grains and pods,
as well as resistance to pathogens.The newly created genotypes Galija,
SG-RR-3 and SG-RR-6 belong to peas with normal leaf structure and
have improved quality, which is recommended for sowing programs at
producers who grow peas for industrial harvesting and industrial
processing, canning and freezing. Genotypes ŽŽ-7 and ŽŽ-28 belong to
the pea afylla type, with a very fine pod and grain adapted for the
industrial method of harvesting, ie. varieties without leaves that have
tendrils instead of coots (transformation is conditioned by the action of
one recessive gene af) and these varieties are completely resistant to
lodging.
