AB  - Nowadays tomato selection includes firmness and shelf-life of fruits. Tomato selection for these traits has to include selection for pericarp thickness, firmness of epidermis and firmness of flesh. Fruit firmness is a polygenic trait and depends on firmness components. Fruit firmness can be increased by accumulating favourable traits of each component. This paper deals with aspects of increasing fruit firmness by increasing firmness of the epidermis and thickness of the pericarp. By using genotypes with the rin (ripening inhibitor) gene, we were able to accomplish high fruit firmness, especially firmness of flesh. The expression of these traits causes asynchronization of the maturing process so the fruits do not over-mature or soften. Genetic effects have been evaluated by researching the average values of fruit firmness in six diallel parent lines (D-150, S-49, S-35, H-52, Kg-z and SP-109) and progeny (P-1, P-2, F-1, F-2, BC1, and BC2) by applying an additive dominant model with three and six parameters. Mean values of fruit firmness for parents and progeny were significantly different. Firmness of fruits was influenced primarily by additive genes. Dominant gene effects appeared in certain cross combinations. Epistatic gene effects were important in inheritance for all three two-gene interactions. The stable duplicate type of epistasis was found, which in this case reduces the unfavourable effects of dominant parent genes.

Prinos semena salate u različitim rokovima setve

AB  - U ovom radu ispitivali smo broj semena salate (Lactuca sativa L.) po biljci u dva roka setve Pretpostavka je da su osobine, ukupan broj cvetova i broj cvetova po cvetnoj glavici visoko korelisane između sebe, a one predstavljaju komponente prinosa semena. Drugim rokom setve, izazvano je "preskakanje" faze glavičenja. "Preskakanje" faze glavičenja je posledica uticaja dugog dana, kada biljke iz faze 4-6 stalna lista prelaze u fazu icvetavanja. Ovo ispitivanje ima cilj da ispita smanjenje broja semena u zavisnosti od zasnivanja semenskog useva salate. Komparativno je ispitano l O sorti salate (Nansen, Majska kraljica, Safir, Univerzal, Ravel, Atraction, Superble, Type-5140, Ljubljanska ledenka i Brauner) za ukupan broj cvetova i broj cvetova po cvetnoj glavici, u dva roka setve. Izveden je dvofaktorijelni ogled, po potpuno slučajnom blok sistemu u četiri ponavljanja. Korelacija između ove dve osobine su srednje jačine (r = 0,706) bez utvrđene značajnosti. Regresioni koeficijenti ukazuju na postojanje međuzavisnosti ovih osobina. Analiza varijanse ukazuje na signifikantnu varijansu genotipa, dok drugi faktor, rok i interakcija (genotip x rok) nemaju signifikantne vrednosti. Koeficijent fenotipske varijacije je veći od koeficijenta genetičke varijacije kod obe osobine.
AB  - This paper is a result of researching the number of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) seed per plant in two sawing periods. The presumption was that the traits: total number of flowers and total number of flowers per head, are highly correlated and that they represent the components of seed yield. In the second sawing period the skipping of the heading phase was provoked. Skipping of the heading phase is the effect of the long day, when plants transfer to flowering phase from phase of 4-6 permanent leaves. This research aimed to investigate the decrease of the seed number depending on sowing time lettuce seed crop. Ten lettuce varieties (Nansen, Majska kraljica, Safir, Univerzal, Ravel, Atraction, Superble, Type-5140, Ljubljanska ledenka and Brauner) for total flower number and the number of flowers per flower head in two sawing periods were compared. Two-factorial trial in random block system with four replications was performed. The correlation of the two researched traits was medium (r = 0,706) without significance. Regression coefficient showed the correlation of these traits. Variance analysis showed that variance of genotype was not significant: the other factor, sowing time and interaction (genotype x sowing time) were not significant. The coefficient of phenotype variance was higher than the genetic variance coefficient for both traits.

AB  - Savremeni programi selekcije paradajza imaju za cilj stvaranje genotipova sa čvrstim plodovima. Takvi plodovi se tokom berbe i transporta manje oštećuju, čime se direktno utiče na njihovu veću upotrebnu vrednost. Ukrštanjem sedam divergentnih genotipova paradajza koji su se međusobno razlikovali po čvrstini ploda, metodom punog dialela bespovratnih ukrštanja. dobijen je 21 hibrid F1 generacije. Analizom komponenata genetičke varijanse ustanovljeno je da su dominantni geni imali preovlađujuću ulogu u nasleđivanju ovog svojstva. Posmatrajući sve kombinacije ukrštanja zajedno može se zaključili da je super dominacija predstavljala način nasleđivanja u F1 generaciji. Hibridna kombinacija dobijena ukrštanjem dva najbolja opšta kombinatora (V-100 X no-10) odlikovala se najboljom posebnom kombinacionom sposobnošću.
AB  - Present day program for tomato selection are aimed at creating the genotypes with firm fruit. The fruits with this quality surfer from minor injuries while being harvested and transported, which directly affects their better consumption purpose. By crossing seven divergent tomato genotypes that differed among themselves in fruit firmness, and by applying the method of full diallel without reciprocal crossings, we obtained 21 hybrids of F1 generation. Upon analyzing the components of the genetic variance we found out that dominant genes prevailed in inheriting this feature. Considering all the crossing combinations together, it could be concluded that super dominance was the mode of inheritance recorded in Fl generation. The hybrid combination obtained by crossing the two hybrids with the best general combining ability (V-100 x No-10) was characterized by the best specific combining ability.

Genetic analysis of yield and combining abilities cucumber female lines

AB  - A 2 × 3 test-cross analysis was done in order to estimate the influence of genes on the yield of cucumbers. Two female lines of indeterminate growth (21/3 and PMS) were crossed with three monoecious lines of determinate growth (M-24/4, M-24/5 and M-24/6) used as testers. Field trial was done according to a randomized block system in two replications using six F 1 hybrids and their parents. Analysis of combining abilities was done by the Singh and Choudhary method (1976). The tested genotypes were significantly different in yield. Additive influence of genes controlled the expression of yield. The most important value of general combining ability (GCA) was noted with the PMS line. Significant values of specific combining ability (SCA) were not found in the tested hybrids.
